While it is not the Movenpick it is, as the guidebook described, a luxury hotel at a third of the price. This does NOT mean it is a luxury hotel but does mean that for £50 a night you get to stay in a really comfortable hotel in a good location (Wadi Muse - main town for Petra which is down the hill). Staff were welcoming and the room was clean, with nice touches from a more luxury hotel like a very good mattress, white linen, nice bathroom (with bath), towels etc. Breakfast was excellent and there is a nice pool and turkish baths (though you do have to pay extra for the latter). We didn't have dinner, although compared to what we paid to eat in the town the price seemed fair. It was a real haven to return to after tramping round Petra all day.

Spent two nights at this hotel whilst visiting Petra. We found it comfortable and clean. After a day exploring Petra we took a Turkish bath treatment late in the afternoon which was a real treat. I found the food to be okay too but nothing great. If you are looking for something comfortable close to town this is a nice place.

Stayed for two nights in the 2nd week of March in a twin room travelling with my sister part of a week long trip to Jordan for her birthday present. The hotel staff immediately offered a welcome drink on arrival and checked us in very quickly. Our room (number 220) was not that big but ok adequate with everything required and was cleaned every day. Other rooms on the floor looked as though they may be slightly bigger. One nice surprise is that what i thought was a bed and breakfast only reservation turned out to be half board. The evening meal was buffet style and comprised a choice of two main courses which changed daily and a variety of vegetables, rice etc. Drinks are not included but the prices are reasonable, the only alchohol on sale is Jordanian produced lager beer which was fine. Breakfast again was buffet style with a reasonable choice of items.

Taxis from the hotel to and from Petra cost 2JD. If you are buying a two day pass remember to take your passport with you as well as perhaps your hotel card (entry prices for the one day ticket for those not staying in Jordan are 80% dearer than if you are staying in the country. Petra can involve a LOT of walking and if you are older than your early thirties it may be an idea to plan your second day in Petra to be less energetic. Not sure if the two day or more tickets have to be used on consecutive days, if not a chill out day in between visits may be an idea.

On our last day whilst waiting for the taxi back to Amman we made use of the hotel swimming pool and internet (payable 2JD per hour or 5JD a day) for a few hours and lounged around in the sunshine on the hotel terrace drinking iced coffee (its a hard job but somebody has to it.... ) One last thing is that a mosque is located behind the hotel with the calls to prayer being made at various times of day, I suspect this is going to be something you will hear in most hotels withing Wadi Musa.

The hotel is located in Wadi Musa which is conveniently located to explore Petra.

Service was excellent, front of house were very helpful in providing the necessary advice for Petra. The rooms were simple but comfortable and a good size, good value for the price paid. The buffet dinner was adequate but not memorable. If your budget does not extend to the Movenpick resort then the Amra Palace is an excellent option.

Petra is fantastic, one of the few major tourist attractions that has actually exceeded any expections that I came with.

We loved this place! Front desk lady was so nice and helpful, hotel was simple, clean, and quiet. Great proximity to Petra downtown and the historical site. It is by no means a lavish hotel, if that matters to you. Loved it!

Pleasant and efficient staff in town centre location. Bit of a trek uphill from old city but good value. Turkish bath and scrub a real treat

We stayed five nights in Amra Palace, four days in Petra and what was special about this hotel was that we had the impression, everyone likes to work there, from the people of the room service, to the Turkish bath, the reception and the waiters and kitchen staff - the atmosphere was great and in consequence the service.
