We cannot stay away! Bosky Dell is an old colonial house which has been converted into a number of basic self catering units. They are not posh but they are clean and have character with delightful staff to look after them. We always try to stay in the Stables which is a double studio. The view is fantastic overlooking the penguins at Boulders Beach. We have even had penguins in the garden! We love it here. However, if you want all mod cons this is not the place for you. But we like to go out for main meals and just have breakfast and snacks at the unit which had a cooker, microwave, kettle etc. Earlier this year we stayed in the main house with our family from England. They fell in love with the place too. Having breakfast on the main terrace overlooking the sea was something special. Thank you.

Room Tip: Not all units have a sea view, check before booking if this is wanted. All units have a semi private garden space.

The main house at Boskey Dell is, as one of the other reviewers says, a 'hidden gem' in Boulders. It is one of the oldest houses there and feels like the home of a comfortably off auntie. Its a holiday home not a luxury hotel suite. The luxury that it offers comes not in the decor, the towels or soaps but in the large 'stoop' (veranda) and its location - and that means the view. Its difficult to imagine a better place to be in False Bay than on that stoop on a sunny day (hopefully without the infamous south easter which can settle in to remind you that European sailors passing Cape Point nearby named it the cape of storms). From the gate, its ten steps down to the path to three beautiful beaches (including the wind-protected Boulders beach) nearby (and yes of course to the penguins).

Room Tip: The main house has the views. It has an internal door to one of the upstairs apartments so for larger groups or families, you can book both together.

We spent a night here in Unit B, for six people. A beautiful location, yes, although the unit had no view. Spotlessly clean, yes, though not in the best state of repair. However, for a self catering place it is hopelessly underequipped. A one cup plunger fir six people? Scant serving dishes? No barbecue equipment (very strange for South Africa)? Salad servers and bowl? Not really good enough. Fortunately our stay was short, as it would have been impossible to cater for the family with the available equipment.

Thank you for your review!

We have recently upgraded our resort - New bathrooms in four of our five cottages.

Each cottage also now has more than enough quality crockery, cutlery and glassware and 4 cup plungers!!!
We have all the required barbecue equipment, including built in brick barbecue areas.

I loved this spot..Will definitely recommend and be back. I found Bosky Dell to be a great self catering option if you're wanting to explore Cape Town's Southern peninsula or just wanting time out in a beautiful place. It's just outside of Simonstown and beyond the railway line so you'll need a car. It's more about position than boutique accomodation. The main old house and original outbuildings which have been converted into self catering units are modest, very adequately fitted, clean and right on the edge of Boulders Beach with an uninterrupted view across the the bay. You can access the famous Boulders Penguin Colony through the gate at the bottom of the property as well as the wonderful boardwalk along the edge of the sea. A sheltered swimming beach is a walk away. The staff are accommodating and helpful. I was there out of season and enjoyed the fantastic setting, sunrise/sunset walks..penguin watching and quiet...well except for the braying of penguins and guinea fowl calls and birds and ocean and that odd boom you hear at night in Simonstown that seems to come from the sea.
Note to management: I didn't mind the simple accomodation but not having tea, coffee and sugar ( and maybe rusks)available is a great South African hospitality tradition I missed.

Room Tip: I was travelling solo, in Simonstown for a three day workshop. I was initially booked into the quaint Coach House but found the (very) steep stairway to the little loft bedroom a bit much for my dangy knees. The over shone banister didn't help. So I shifted to the 'stable' which I was very happy with. The accomodation is clean, modest and very adequately supplied with linen, towels cutlery etc. Perfect as a self catering option. It had an en suite shower which was clean with great water pressure. The thing I loved about this room was that although you entered it from the parking courtyard of the little complex of old cape buildings, it has a door off its kitchen onto a very private area under a gnarly, deeply shady tree with lawns that stretch to the edge of the property. The view is spectacular from this room. Bring binocs as you can see right across the bay from the breakfast table window. You can watch the very entertaining penguins taking their morning constitutionals. There's a view from the bed too. If I were with a group or family, I'd definitely try the main cottage..lots of accomodation with an unhampered view, sweeping verandah, wooden floors, fireplace. Can't comment on rest of accomm.

My husband and I rented the main house so that we were in walking distance of our wedding ceremony (Windmill Beach) and reception (Blue Horizon).
Well what a great choice we made!
Ros and her team at Bosky were nothing short of delightfully warm and accommodating. The house was HUGE and so quaint our relatives were blown away by its old school charm and idyllic location. Our family also went onto book the adjoining smaller cottage (with doors that can open into the main house), making for a wonderful base for the wedding party.
Depiste the protests of a previous reviewer I can assure guests that There is Nothing shabby or poential-less about these cottages, they are not modern but beautifully rustic, wholly part of their charm and appeal. And the furnishing is just right in our and our families opinion.

We will go again and to repeat another previous reviewer - this should be on the hidden Gem list!
