It is not only a majestic temple but also one of the very few in Hampi that has maintained a regular practice of worship right from the days of the Vijayanagar empire till today

One of the few places which can be done without a guide, visit the temple complex anyhow. Gives a historical feel to the place and is the first point to begin seeing Hampi.

This one of the main temples in Hampi, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is home to famous female elephant of hampi ,”Lakshmi” . It is situated just near the hampi bazar and its quite easy to reach over here via bus from hospet.

The temple is the largest building in Hampi - but not the largest complex! Situated at what one may call "Hampi". The bazar and such have been removed to better protect the monumemts.
