“Why so rushed?”

Tried this place last night. Food was good for the most part. Nice people. Only problems were the fact that as soon as our starters were finished the plates were instantly whipped away to be replaced immediately by our main courses ,no time to relax and enjoy our meal. No idea why it was so rushed as it wasn’t that busy. My main course of mussels marinara was probably the worst bowl of mussels I’ve had in a long time. A little chopped chilli and an overly large amount of chopped parsley do not a marinara sauce make.

We stopped here after flying 13 hours. It right across from the beach and has excellent tapas. We stated ordering and they had to stop us because it was too much food. The servings are generous and high quality.

We have an apartment behind tolos. We walked past the imperial every day. We thought we would stop off and have a drink. We were treated nicely. Talked to the staff and had a really nice time. Decided to book a table for the next night to go and have the set menu. Booked for 7pm. The next night my husband who is diabetic had a wee turn and was unwell. I got him sorted and we arrived at the imperial at 720pm. Now we wern't expecting them to have kept the table but because we have manners we thought we would stop and explain. If we could be offered a table then all well and good but if not then there are plenty of other restaurants and we would apologise and go on. Well........we didn't get a chance we were screamed at by the older women 7 o'clock.....7oclock......7o'clock and this was in front of all the other diners and everyone was looking at us. My poor husband just said "my apologies' and we walked out. While all the tables had now been taken outside and ours had gone there was not one person sitting inside and we were not even offered one by this screaming member of staff. She was actually serving a table as she screamed at my husband. It is a real pity because we talked to a relative of the chefs the day before and also the food and the ambience of the imperial looked lovely. We go to our apartment in April and stay until September and can honestly say we have never been treated like this before in the port in any restaurant.
