I really am not sure if I can add anything more about Ca's Curial that hasn't already been said but I'll give it a try.
This was the first time we'd stayed in a finca and have usually stayed in hotels which up to now have been faultless and we've enjoyed and thought that that type of holiday was the only one to have abroad. This stay at Ca's Curial has changed our minds about what we really want from a holiday abroad.
Please don't think of staying here if you're expecting an impersonal busy hotel where the huge numbers of staff are tripping over themselves to pander to your every need. Ca's Curial is very much a small tranquil family run finca where the main members of staff are Andres senior and junior, ably assisted in the mornings by housekeepers, and Andres senior's wife who provides the excellent evening meals. So therefore if you want one of their magnificant jugs of freshly squeezed orange juice during the day, you may have to search for either Andres as they are busy around the finca and not just sitting at reception ......that's the beauty of staying in such a wonderful friendly place and so different from a typical tourist hotel. We actually felt like visitors to their home instead of another tourist filling another hotel room for a holiday.
Soller town is what imagine a typical Mallorcian town to be like, catering primarily for the locals so no souvenir shops or English bars. We were fortunate (!!!) to be in Soller during their Es Firo festival last week, what an experience, but luckily took Andres' advice and ate in the finca on monday evening! The port is more touristy as you would imagine but still very pleasant and definately worth a visit or two.
What I liked was the fact we were able to come up from the airport by bus at incredibly cheap prices and we walked and walked in the hills and mountains for the 9 days we were there. For us the was no need for a car and if we needed to venture a bit further then there was the tram to the port and a good bus service to Deia and beyond.
I think therefore that in future we will probably be avoiding the larger hotels, instead opting for a more personal stay in a finca or similar and we'd love to return to Ca's Curial.
