Owner description: Bodegas Ochoa is one of Spain’s most dynamic wineries. Family owned and run since 1845, it is based in Olite, a small town capital of Navarra wine, where the King had the summer residence. The spectacular vineyards produce elegant, exciting and highly acclaimed wines including the Tempranillo Finca Santa Cruz, a single vineyard monovarietal from their own vineyards. In addition to this they are one of Spain’s most popular rose producers with ROSADO DE LAGRIMA, being awarded many times best rose of Spain, by different critics, wine guides and wine journalists. Ochoa has gained international acclaim and truly captures the essence of the region. We organize 3 events on saturday or holiday per year. Visit our website for further information.

We enjoyed the interesting wines of Navarra, a less famous wine region. The Rosado Lagrimas is so special we took two bottles back to the USA.

Most of Ochoa's wines are not yet imported to the US, but several are represented by a New Jersey importer. I knew I liked what was imported and was anxious to try what was kept for Spanish distribution. Mr. Ochoa is mostly retired and his oldest daughter is experimenting with her own style of wines. Frankly, I think they are better than the more traditional styles. There is a slight tasting charge, but the wines are maybe 30% the cost we would pay in the US.
