Stayed at the lodge for a week in July with family. It was beautiful, comfortable and very, very relaxing. It is ideally suited for walking in the area and the has plenty of maps and guides. The conservatory was a real added bonus. Would love to go back.

“Fantastic find, cozy and comfortable. A home away from home”

A lovely place to stay. Really spacious with large rooms and fabulously well equipped. The owners have thought of all sorts of additions to make the stay. Books and magazines as well little touches like a torch to help find our way back from the nearby pub. The kitchen has everything you need and much better equipped than I have at home. The bathroom looks new and is great as it has a separate shower. Lovely real fire that was already lit when we arrived.
The location is fantastic for walks and even a few runs. Good places to eat nearby, although we didn't do this as often as intended, as the cottage was such a lovely place it was nice to stay in.

We have just returned from yet another enjoyable and relaxing trip to the Lakes and lower Grisedale Lodge. As always, Christine and John made us really welcome. Normally we visit in the summer, so it was good to see the cottage and the Lakes in the winter - although it was warm inside the cottage, the coal fire was a bonus, making the place really cosy.
If you haven't been to Lower Grisedale Lodge I can recommend it; it's spacious, well appointed and quiet. This year the bathroom has been refurbished making it really bright and modern. Shame the mirrored tiles had to go!!
We will be back in July and are looking forwards to it.

“What a fantastic find , a true meaning of home from home”

Well where to begin, as a brief synopsis of the review to follow, this Lodge, the location, and the proprieters could not be better.
As regular visitors to the Ullswater area we sought out accomodation to spend our anniversary and after enquiries and excellent speedy responses from Christine elected for Grisedale and are we glad we did.
The location we already knew but were pleasently suprised at how secluded down the lane this lodge is.
The location is ideal for dissappearing into the fells in any direction, across the road and down the lane to Grisedale tarn and the ranges beyond, right and a stroll into Glenridding and a gentle meander around the village ,or left and onto Patterdale, over the bridges and either around the lake below place fell or up to Boredale and the fells beyond. An absolute dream of a location. And all the information about these areas is available in the Lodge.
So you can do all this walking around and then return to what is one of the best holliday cottages we have stayed in. It is laid out not as a holiday home, but as a home.
The welcome cake was just that very welcome and enjoyable.
The lodge is spacious, only two of us but even with more I can not feel anyone would feel crowded.
It is comfortable, very comfortable and welcoming in every aspect.
After the walks I mentioned above there was nothing like getting back and lighting the real fire, the information pack even giving guidance on this activity as it is something we were not familiar in doing.
Many pleasent evenings sat just chilling in front of the fire watching television, or listening to the music Cds provided in the cottsge or watching the dvds or reading one of the many books available.
If you go in summer there is a conservatory to enjoy or the garden but even in the week we stayed it was nice to sit and relax out there.
In all a very enjoyable stay made memorable by location, facilities and excellent hosts
The only drawback of this review there is not enough thumbs for recommending to a friend something I would do in a breath

“Cozy & Roomy in One”

My husband and myself took my parents, over from Canada, here for their first weekend in the Lakes, and we just really appreciated this place. Great rooms—bright, clean, uncluttered but homey—really good kitchen, kitted out to the max. We love the Ullswater area and there aren't a lot of options for a few-day rental around.
There are several incredible walks accessible straight out the door of this place. Just awesome. Owners very lovely, too.

This cottage has everything you need. There is a very well stocked kitchen with not just one of each utensil but loads. When we booked we looked at the pictures which usually make places look bigger than they are but were really surprised as it was bigger than expected. Very spacious. Lovely setting just outside the village so very quiet. Definitely recommend.

“Fantastic holiday”
Reviewed September 2, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We had a wonderful time in Glenridding. The accommodation was excellent with everything you could possibly need and more.

The location of Lower Grisedale Lodge was perfect, and sitting in the conservatory looking out at the beautiful garden and amazing scenery was definitely a highlight. It was incredibly quiet and peaceful and only 10 minutes walk to Lake Ullswater which was breathtaking.

The beds were very comfortable and the dishwasher a luxury as we don't have one at home!

All in all, one of the best holidays we've been on.
