Beautiful hotel set in classic Spanish colonial style with bedrooms overlooking two lovely courtyards. Convenient location right in the centre of the city. Acceptable breakfast albeit served by a rather eccentric waiter!

The hotel is very beautiful and the rooms are comfortable. The bathroom is very modern with a good shower. The room itself is quite small and, as everywhere in Colombia, there's not much isolation so you can hear all noises outside your room. Hotel staff does not speak Spanish. The breakfast was simple, but tasty.

Staff was unable to converse in English. Room 101 was fine if somewhat narrow. Bathroom was bigger by comparison. Had a hard time opening the front door. Went to reception for help. A man came, inserted the key and kicked the bottom of the door to get it to open. Folks in room 102 must have fiddled with their lock for 5 minutes before they could get in. Breakfast was basic- 2 rolls, 1 pack of butter and 1 of strawberry jelly. Eggs if desired. There was no other restaurant in the vicinity for breakfast, so glad it was included. Tried lunch there once. It was very busy but the food was not memorable. Trout was overcooked and chicken cordon blue was deep-fried, very crispy on the outside and raw on the inside. Because there is a central courtyard the noise level can high. The best thing was the resident cat.

We are currently staying at this hotel which was booked by our tour. Not a good idea if you have only minimal Spanish. The hotel is conveniently situated and the reception staff is friendly and helpful. Unfortunately breakfast is included and the staff there are rude, lazy and seem to prefer we were elsewhere-great for us as tourists! Really had to persist to even get some of the breakfast included in our deal and eventfully left. On return to the hotel in the afternoon tired to get a coffee - cold and ignored my little Spanish of con leche(milk)

Room tip: Don't bother with breakfast deal or anything to do with the restaurant if you cant speak Spanish!

We stayed at Hotel La Plazuela for 3 nights. Depending on traffic, the short taxi ride from the airport takes 10-20 minutes with a flat fare of 5000 COP (the meter may say less, but it really is COP 5,000). The hotel is centrally located in a colonial building right in the city center, only a couple of blocks from Parque Caldas (the main plaza). We were in room 102 for the 1st night and found out the next morning that there was no hot water. They were unable to fix the problem and promptly moved us next door, to room 101, which we actually liked much better.

Even though the hotel is located right downtown, we were not bothered by any noise and slept well. The bathroom had been very nicely remodeled with all the modern amenities, but the water pressure is on the low side. WIFI worked most of the time.

The breakfast consisted of fruit juice, coffee, bread and eggs cooked to order, served by a very friendly waiter.

Overall, we loved Hotel La Plazuela with its friendly staff, excellent location and simple, but adequate breakfast.
