Arrived 10 minutes early and were seated promptly. Told we could visit the buffet at 10. We ordered Mimosas and tea while we waited.
The buffet had many choices, including the obligatory prime rib, ham, and turkey breast. There was also an omelette station. The set up was fairly nice, but the chafing dish area was sterile looking. No decor at all; just dish after dish. Okay, that’s not so important, but the fact that everything we chose was barely warm. No surprise; the Sterno cans had not been lit! Uggh. We suffered through cold food that was just average. Nothing special or particularly tasty. When we walked out, the same chafing dishes were steaming hot. Guess being the first seating did not guarantee fresh, hot food. I mentioned it to the hostess as we walked out, and she just apologized. Oh well, our problem I suppose.
Our check arrived and my husband paid. We were ready to leave when our waitress came over and gave my husband a new bill stating she charged us the regular buffet price. The new bill was $65 more. Not a problem, but they should have owned their mistake and not have bothered the customer. Not good PR.
We are over The Padre and have since heard that their food quality has declined. It used to be great.
