“Good Hotel”
Reviewed 12 April 2012

We stayed at the Beverly Hilton in February to celebrate our daughters birthday. The service at the hotel was pretty good. We stayed in a Junior suite, which was clean and spacious. We also loved the large balcony!! Its not too bad of a walk to Rodeo Drive from the hotel. But I wish it had been a little bit closer. Room service was good, but expensive. Trader Vic's was great! We had a great breakfast outside by the pool! We enjoyed our stay here.

Stayed at the Beverly Hilton on our last trip to southern California. The Beverly Hilton is a perfect place to escape from the busy streets. Not a far drive from Hollywood. Trader Vics bar was a great place to grab a drink and the lobby bar was great too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. And will stay here again when in Beverly Hills

Everything ok except, no upgrade to a suite with diamond status/centurion card. First room smelt like a currie house so after being on hold for 10 minutes to front desk. They told me $75 to change up to a suite, i said just get me a room without the stench, they did.
Were heading to the game and needed to print our tickets. This is where front desk lady was rude. Told me they wouldnt help i had to go to business centre which needed my cc and $6 or so to log on and print 1 page, quite infuriating when pay $300 a night and they wont help print a page that might cost them a nickle and keep a loyal customer happy. I went to the empty concierge desk, who when they returned were more than helpful and were rewarded with a nice tip for being helpfull.

Pool is nice but no poolside service so had to dry off to go in and grab drinks.

Nice place overall but probly better value elsewhere for the level of service we have received so far this stay.

Gripe over

Hotel was pretty. Pool was nice, but not heated as advertised. Staff was warm and accommodating. Gym was good enough. Courtesy car driver Zorro was our favorite.

All in all a good stay, but guess we expected a little more due to the hotel's reputation.

Got a pretty good deal by bidding and decided to stay for 2 nights at the Beverly Hilton. I think much of the appeal to me was that this place is famous and renowned. I sort of a history and pop culture geek, so I thought it was cool that this was site of the Golden Globes and a lot of Hollywood functions, and the locale for celebrity parties and accomodations for many decades.
But putting that part of it aside -
pros: the common areas are really nice. The property is vast with multiple wings and different ballrooms and bars, etc. You can hang out and people watch. The pool area is nice, though somewhat packed because the chairs are so close together. It sort of feels a like Hollywood.
cons: you can definitely feel the age of the place though. My room at least felt like it needed some updating, I can't speak knowledgeably about the other rooms though. It wasn't bad or anything, perfectly fine and clean, just felt old. (maybe I got an older room because of the discount rate I paid...).
It could be crowded, noisy, hectic if you're there on a night that there is an event going on, which I assume can take away from the service because of the overflow and people going in and out.
And the parking, even the self-park overnight, can be expensive. And there's not much alternative, where it is located on Wilshire...plus Beverly Hills has a lot of hidden parking restrictions.
Still, overall I enjoyed my stay.

One of the best Hiltons ever, but still yet not deserving of higher praise or rating than I've given.

Classic with an interior that gives a strong nod to its heritage and to the fact that this is a Californian hotel that is located in Beverly Hills. Beautifully decorated lobby and interiors, including the retro poolside, restaurants and bar. It's a shame the same can't be extended to the bedrooms and suites, where it seems that the Californian elegance gives way to generic Hilton interiors and lazy housekeeping.

Views are expansive and if you have a room that faces the hills, you are able to see in the far distance that too-well-known Hollywood sign and those never changing bright blue skies. However, the hotel itself is directly situated to a visibly vacated former department store, which takes away from the ambiance of arriving and departing from the facilities.

The perks normally given at nicer hotels are not offered here, and they take away from the experience. Like charging for Daily parking ($35) and wifi ($20) of all things would not make me want to return.

Lovely spa services, but less than stellar spa amenities. Two small steam showers and one changing/large bathroom made the place seem a bit sub-standard. The gym is very nice (to be expected for LA) with newer machines with televisions. The two bars and restaurants on the premises also feel very generic with lackluster and unfriendly service. Isn't Trader Vic's legendary? Service and food did not feel like it. The cuisine and drinks felt hokey, and the overpriced food was worse than your average Chinese takeout.

Rooms are on the smaller side and some of the furniture has seen better days (knicks, scratches a plenty!). Bathrooms are airy and updated with a separate toilet - but the only shower space suffers from low water pressure and a generic shower head.

Housekeeping was not thorough, found a long spoon that had been overlooked between the bed and the bedside table. Also due to early check-in, we were given a room on a floor that was mostly populated by convention attendees. Seems like the bellmen did not get the memo, and as I was getting dressed to explore, one knocked and entered the room to drop off a gift bag much to our mutual embarrassment.

When all is said and done, this is no 5 star experience or worth the 5-star price tag. A decent hotel for conventions and the like, and even a decent hotel in a central location while visiting LA (if you can get it at a good price), however if you want a hotel with a little more cachet or more of that LA feel, look elsewhere.

Room Tip: Make sure the room faces the Hollywood hills and Not the interior courtyard or pool!
