Yep - it's got Denny's food alright, but these guys have the A/C on full blast in the 103 degree heat, the Barq's root beer is ice cold, & the pie is killer. Even the manager was serving folks, it was so busy on a Friday night at 9 PM. Forget the Sizzler - try their county fried steak.

Dennys? Why write a review of Denny’s? Everybody knows what they do.

Well, maybe not. They do change things once in awhile. Even their slogan. Maybe you remember when it was “A Good Place to Sit and Eat.” Did they expect us to eat standing up? Then they changed it to “Now We’re Cooking!” Which leads is to ask: What were they doing before? Now they say they’re “America’s Diner,” which I guess works for them.

Anyway, the place is kind of hidden behind a couple of gas stations but the sign is easy to see and they are right off the Lovekin exit in downtown Blythe.

We hadn’t had much of any vegetables on our trip, so we were looking for more than just burgers or tacos. That's why we stopped in here on the way home. My wife and I both had their Chicken-Fried Steak, which was pretty good and filling enough. Broccoli for the vegetable. We skipped sodas and just had water, both to save money and calories. So we got out the door for $20.02, minus the tip. Good food, reasonable price. What more do you want?

We stopped at Blythe to get some lunch, as we traveled to our final destination, Sedona. The Denny's in Blythe I believe is the epicenter of social activity in the city of Blythe.

The people watching was more fun than actually eating. We saw all kinds of interesting characters. I man that looked eerily like the bassist for ZZ Top, a couple who could have been extras on Roseanne and many more. A cast of thousands. It made for a very interesting lunch conversation.

We both ordered Slam breakfasts. As always, the food at Denny's is consistently average, and kind of boring. It won't wake up any new taste buds in your mouth. Once you've eaten breakfast at Denny's they all tend to blur together. Remember to bring your AARP card. You get a 15% discount on your meal.

Glad to have had the opportunity to eat and get re-charged for the rest of our drive to Sedona.

The parking lot is small and was almost full on the Sunday morning we were there. Our server was friendly, as was the manager who took our payment. They need to rethink their cook, though. The food was mediocre compared to other Denny's. My pancakes (which tasted great) were small. The bacon was limp and greasy, barely cooked enough to eat. My elderly mother, who eats like a bird looked down at her scrambled eggs and said, "This doesn't look like when I scramble two eggs. I think they used only one egg." Also, her toast came dry, no butter at all. The area is seedy. There was a woman who hid between the cars and popped out people as they came close, asking them for money.

We were staying in Blythe for several days. Kind of an odd location (on a freeway off-ramp) but the staff was great and the food excellent.
