We're so glad we found this place during our stay at Borrego Valley Inn. It's a little hard to find (tucked away at the back of a small mall on Palm Canyon Road) but you can park easily and it's so very much worth seeking out! We had three take-out meals from them (only because our hotel room was so comfortable we were reluctant to leave it after long days hiking) and they were all fantastic. The soup (we had Lentil soup and Cabbage Patch soup) were even better than I can make myself - and I make a good bowl of soup! The Cobb Salad was brilliant (and we have high standards for those, too) and the Apple Pie was simply the best. We'd just arrived from Palm Springs via Julian - supposedly the Apple Pie Capital of California. And the one we bought there couldn't touch the Kendall's one for deliciousness and lightness. It even has just the slightest fragrance of cinnamon, a really fine piece of baking.
Our food from Kendall's was truly some of the best we had during a 3-week trip of the California. The ambience is incredibly warm and welcoming, a small-town diner/cafe run with great pleasantness and professionalism by the charming staff. I got called 'Honey' and 'Miss' and felt I was in a movie....! Really reasonable prices too - if you're in Borrego Springs, don't miss this gem of a place.
