Owner description: Like its more famous Yellowstone counterpart, this Napa Valley geyser erupts at regular intervals - every forty minutes, in the case of the Calistoga gusher.

I realize this is dumb, but people in my party though it was "the old faithful" so kind a disappointment for them. It is what it is though

Visited with the family in July, 2017.
I have been to this facility back in the mid 1990's and there have been many improvements to the site since then, such as a petting zoo, gift shop, picnic area and bocci ball courts and geological explanations on display.
With that in mind, I understand that these things cost money, but the entrance fee is quite high (over $60 for family of 3) for something you only hang around for 45 minutes.
If you plan to take a picnic and make at least a half a day out of it, then it's worth the high fee.

Despite being an unique site (or only 1 of 3 geysers in the world), this spot is quite laid back and NOT laden with tourists. In fact on the hot mid-day that we were there, we didn't encounter any guests until we were leaving after touring the small 1-room history museum, visiting the petting farm (mostly goats & sheep), walking through the small garden, and watching the geyser show about every 5 minutes. Although the entrance fee is pricey, the gift shop has a kitchen alcove where there are free cutlery, plates, and other items to use for a picnic outdoors. Outdoors there are couches in tented areas facing the geyser, picnic tables, games, books, puzzles, and sweeping views of the countryside that encourage you to get the price of your admission by lingering.

It's a Geyser which has been glorified into a visitors attraction which was very highly priced to see the water spurt out of the ground. ($15 for adults) Admittedly it was firing off very frequently when we're were there nearly every 5-10 mins, and this was great to see as I hadn't seen one before- and they had made a nice effort with seating and picnic areas to sit. There were a few animals and some play equipment to entertain whilst waiting for the water to spout.
Not a full day out unless you wanted to extend a visit with a picnic- we were there just less than an hour.
