WOW.. What a spot... Incredible resort, a gem. Our "room" was outstanding-- gorgeous bathroom with iindoor and outdoor shower, wonderful bedroom, deck/patio and whole other living room with half bath and mini kitchen-- all ideal and 100% private. Spa is sublime-- highly recommend having a massage and visiting the Spa. We had a delicious breakfast served in lovely setting at the Lake House. Fantastic staff, we had an awesome visit!

Family and dog friendly, this place immerses you with nature perfectly! Our daughter loved walking through the vineyard and gardens to the chicken coop. She was able to get fresh eggs herself which was made her trip. They also have a fantastic pool with a beach entry which made it easy for our little one to feel comfortable walking in and sitting in the shallow end to escape the summer heat. We are also a family with food allergies and the restaurant staff was so accommodating. We couldn't have asked for a better stay, thank you so much to the entire team at Calistoga Ranch for a memorable vacation.

We were so excited to spend our anniversary here and splurged at $1300 a night for a long weekend in June. We knew it was a buffed up trailer park (the units still have wheels hidden behind the trellis due to previous zoning) and that it was in a back-alley valley with no views but had heard such great things about Auberge. We love the layout and the quiet grounds; the forest views are quiet and nice (but don't hold a candle to valley, lake or vineyard views available elsewhere at this price). The fireplace and private deck was a great touch although the separation of living room and bedroom was often awkward, inviting bugs in whenever you had to traverse from one section of the room to the other. The units are fairly homogeneous with a wooden deck with a fireplace that also looks into the living room with pull out couch, tv, bathroom and minibar area. The bedroom and living room are fairly tight and very dated... the drip Mr. Coffee machine (really?!?) gives it away when the rest of the luxury crowd has Nespresso machines. But it's the 1990's color scheme, dated phones, physical metal keys (who still has those relics?) TVs, safes, just about everything feels like it is in bad need of a refresh. They didn't even have an on-demand service to order a movie at night when there's nothing to do on site. We had a lot of bug issues in the unit - ants were everywhere - they'd send someone to spray but they'd find any scrap of food you'd bought an swarm over it. We were so disappointed that the ants found our treasures brought home from Bouchon Bakery!

Beyond the units the public areas are in really good shape; we found the service universally excellent (with the exception of the hapless concierge dept). Jon at the pool bar and Dillon at the lake house were consummate professionals and worth their weight in gold for any luxury resort. Same goes for Shannon in the front office. The hiking trails, bocce ball court, chicken coop w/fresh eggs, pool experience and restaurants all passed muster and we had a good time despite our griping about the overpriced unit.

Shannon at the front office actually drove to Bouchon and brought us replacement treats and also sent us some champagne for our anniversary - this is really a special place for service... taking a B location and making it into a worth retreat.... and for just relaxing with a book and a great bottle of wine. Our next stop was the new Archer hotel and for 1/3 the price we had a huge suite, Nespresso machine, clean/new finishes and fireplace with on-demand... coming off this unit we really developed an appreciation for value for money!!

Room Tip: Forest units in winter when brook is running

Well I know other people were there, but sitting on our private deck in our suite, you would not know it! The architects have done a perfect job of situating each suite such that they meld perfectly with nature and the beautiful canyon that they are built in. I describe these as suites because I know of no better word for the lovely accommodations. There were two structures - a bedroom, bathroom and outdoor shower, and a separate living room structure with a refrigerator, coffee maker, gas fireplace, 1/2 bath- connected by a private wooden deck.

No cars are allowed past the reception area, so walking, though steep roads at times, was very safe. We walked up from our suite to their restaurant for breakfast and dinner. The food was excellent!

There were two pools - adult and a separate pool for families. Work out facilities were top notch.

Service was spot on, and the respect for privacy was absolutely honored. The place is beautiful, and fits its beautiful environment. The private outdoor shower was really cool - got to get one of those!
