Pleasant resort - I was here for meetings, but did get a chance to take a look
around the place. Nice room, though could use a bit more direct light on the desk
for a working stiff - staff fine, nothing bad, and nothing jumping out as spectacular.
Very convenient for the Legoland attraction and the Carlsbad outlet mall.

We stayed here as a family of four while we visited Legoland and the Carlsbad and Oceanside area. Its proximity to Legoland can't be overlooked, but this hotel is a destination in its own right.

While we were staying there, someone told me the hotel was 9 years old. If that is true, then the maintenance has been fantastic. It looks and feels much newer than that. The hotel is immaculately clean and well kept. This includes the rooms, the loby and common areas and the grounds.

In my opinion, the real star is the outdoor pool area. The pool is large, with varying depths. So every member of my family (kids 7 and 9) had a place they felt comfortable swimming. Beside the pool are the typical chaise longues, but also several other conversation sets and loveseats. These were super comfortable and made for a great place to chat, and dine from the poolside restaurant.

The Legoland private entrance is a short walk across the parking lot. Or the hotel will shuttle you in a golf cart. It is convenient and easy and fun for the kids. Once you get to the park entrance, you kind of come in to the back of Legoland and you are immediately in the middle of the action.

I also give high marks to the hotel Bell staff. These men made a great recommendation for a local restaurant, got us there in the hotel shuttle (which is free), and picked us up. Very efficient and courteous.

If I had any criticism or suggestion for the hotel, it would be something that someone else already mentioned- there didn't seem to be enough accessible USB plugs in the room. For a family of 4, we may have more devices that require charging than most, so I can't fault the hotel a great deal in this regard.

Dear suit_geoff:

We are thrilled your family of four has reviewed us a 5 while enjoying our, dare we say but proud 9 year old resort... but since we are maintaining a humbled beauty stance... we don't like to brag, so thank you for the compliment! We look forward to your prompt return where you and your foursome can enjoy even more from our up and coming "little" facelift with fresher offerings and bang for your buck! After all, we believe beauty should come both internally and externally and we're proud to be high maintenance! ;)

Visited & stayed to play golf. Easy to find and seems like a perfect location for families visiting Legoland and other area spots. Staff was helpful. Golf course is LONG and challenging. Beautifully scenic. First day we played behind beginners so pace was quite slow. Would not recommend for beginner golfers due to the extremes in elevation changes and undulating greens. Second day was better as the group in front of us kept pace. Adjacent airport made for some noisy first holes. Got substantially quieter on back nine. Restaurant food was ok. Pretty decent wine options. Service staff was very friendly and accommodating - kudos to all of them. Rooms were sufficient, nothing to write home about. Air worked well and room was quiet. Starbucks for the am coffee machine, yay! There is construction so view was non-existent, some kind of a plastic tarp. We didn't care because all we needed to do was shower & sleep & get back onto the golf course. Everyone working at The Crossings was also very nice. Aviara is our favorite in the area as it has more of a resort feel. The amenities there are more luxurious, then again it costs more. For couples & golf the vote is Aviara. For families & affordability, the vote would be Sheraton.

While a very nice property with regard to curb appeal, the rooms themselves are lacking. There are not the standard outlets or USB jacks that most hotels have at the bedside. Worst of all was the thermostat. I travel a lot and have never had trouble with a thermostat. However, these have 'mode' setting that is not intuitive at all. I woke up hot and had to call the front desk at 4am for a lesson on how to make it work. And even then I could not make it function properly. When I went to checkout the girl at the front desk simply said "oh yes, lots of people complain and they are confusing." I truly hope management reads this and considers some changes. Guests who cannot get a good night's sleep simply will not return.

We had a superb stay at this property. The room was comfortable, and the staff was exceptional. We really appreciated the daily breakfast and found the food at the restaurant to be worth staying on property for. Parking was easy, the pool was never crowded, and the path to LEGOLAND provided my daily exercise. =)
