“Perfection in the Pelion!”

My husband and I loved our stay at Chris and Kathryn's beautifully restored Olive Store Cottage, near Platanias in the South Pelion. If we could give it six stars instead of five we would!!! Everything we needed was provided in this gorgeously restored and comfortable property, including a welcome pack of goodies, numerous books, maps, guidebooks, cd's/dvd's, games....but the area was so fantastic and the weather in late Sept/early Oct so amazing, that we were hardly ever in! Chris and Kathryn took us on several walks (including hikes on the kalderimi - the old stone donkey paths that link the villages of the Pelion) and were very knowledgeable about the area - these walks always finished with a tasty meal in a local taverna, or a dip at a quiet beach....and preferably both! They also took us out for a day on their super little boat, Kaliope, and as sailing 'virgins', we thoroughly enjoyed a chance to embrace a life on the ocean wave and sail to a deserted beach in Skiathos for swimming and sunning. Should you require seclusion they will leave you to your own devices, but it is a shame to miss out on one of the best aspects of this type of holiday - a chance to meet local Greek and foreign residents and feel like a part of the community, rather than a tourist. We loved Platanias seafront to wander along and Mikro Beach for glorious swimming and delicious food from the picture-book taverna. Also worth a visit are Milina and Chorta on the other side of the peninsula (but only a short drive with fantastic views), as you can watch the sunset from these villages - a comfy seat overlooking the crimson sea with a glass of wine at dusk has got to be one of life's greatest pleasures!
All in all, a perfect holiday and we long to return - we are already checking flights for next spring and looking forward to finding out if the Pelion and its attractions are as beautiful in the springtime.......I suspect we already know the answer, but we can't wait to double check!!! Thank you, Chris and Kathryn and see you soon!

Thank you both for this kind review. September was the most perfect month this year and we enjoyed joining you for some walks and sailing too. If you visit again in the spring time it will give you a chance to experience the wonderful spring flowers and trees in blossom. Every season in Pelion has it's own magic, so we hope to see you here again next year.

“A Perfect place to go in South Pelion”

We stay 15 days at the beautiful cottage of Chris and Kathryn perfectly located near Platanias in the middle of Olive trees and with a fantastic view on the see. We are regulars of summer rentals, It is one of the most beautiful location where we have had the opportunity to go during our holidays in Greece.
The cottage is on two floors, with a lounge, a kitchen, a first bedroom and the bathroom on the ground floor, while a second large room is on the first floor . There is a very large and beautiful terrace where we ate all our meals. The garden is beautiful (there are fig trees everywhere) nice and ideal for relaxing after a long day . Chris also installed an acrobatic swing over a small river which is great (check out his Facebook site). Our two kids spent good time on it. It is much nicer to be in the cottage located in the hills 4 km from the sea, the evening temperatures are ideal. More in the morning it is possible to reach the beach of Platanias and Mikro ( beautiful ) walk from the cottage along a shady path through the forest . We took a little more than 45 minutes (with two children aged 8 and 10 years), it is really worth it, it is very beautiful and nice. Chris is very familiar and knows the paths , ask him also to visit the little church just above the cottage .

Chris and Kathryn are absolutely amazing. We spent two full days with them on their beautiful sailboat and they made us discover sublime places (like the Achilles cave ). They introduced us to sailing (we almost reached Evia, our children were more than happy ) . They also guided us an evening of full moon in the mountains, we keep unforgettable memories. It is also nice to spend evenings in Promiri ( not far at all ), we where there is a cheap and great restaurant on the beautiful central square . For those who like to eat fish , you can go at the restaurant on Mikro beach ( Dorade delicious ) . The southern region of Pelion is full of wonderful places. We visit the beaches of Potistika, Paltsi and Liri and in the other side (Volos Golf) Chorto and Milina are also very nice.

I highly recommend you to spend nice time with Chris and Kathryn , you will be blissfully happy and charmed by the owners and the region of south Pelion. Thanks again to Chris and Kathryn.

Thank you your kind review. We had a lot of fun during the time we spent with you on our sailing adventures and our midnight full moon nature walk. I was very happy not to meet any wild boars face to face. If you get a chance to come and stay again sometime we will try and think up some more unusual activities for you and the boys.

Chris and Kathryn could not have been better hosts. They have built a wonderful cottage at the foot of their property where you can retreat from the world and yet explore the Pelion peninsula by foot, car, or boat. We are not people who ever contemplate returning to a place once visited - it is a big world, after all - we are thinking of making an exception on this occasion.

Thank you for your kind review. Living here sometimes feels like we have found our own paradise. There is something very unique about the South Pelion with it mixture of nature, mountain and coastline. Our pleasure is enhanced by meeting new visitors to this magical place and seeing them experience and discover it for the first time. We really enjoyed meeting you and sharing some time together. We hope you visit us again and use the Olive Store Cottage as your own retreat here in this quiet corner of the world.

“Real holiday for people who like nature and privacy”

The lovely restored Olive Store Cottage was an excellent place for our two families with 4 children. It was easy to feel like home in the perfectly clean, very well equipped and tastefully furnished and decorated house. We enjoyed the view onto the sea from the terrace and in the spaceous garden surrounded by fig and olive trees. And the most important - we enjoyed our privacy, not being disturbed by anyone and not disturbing anybody. We (especially the children) had the wonderful opportunity to explore the mediterranean vegetation by walking the calderimi path down to the beach. And of course the excursion to the holes and to the beutiful sandy beach with "Kaliope" and with the motor boat of their friends was the absolute highlight of our holiday. The stay at the Olive Store Cottage excelled all our previous holidays in Greece. Thank you for that, dear Chris and Kathryn, you have been great hosts!

Our stay at the Olive Store Cottage will remain in our memories for ever. We were 6 persons in total (2 couples and 2 boys) and stayed there for two weeks. We really fell in love with the magic and authentic South Pellion region which, to a great extent, is still protected from wild tourism. We were particularly happy to benefit from the warm-hearted welcome and the extreme kindness of our hosts, Chris and Kathryn, their permanent availability, their generosity, their invaluable suggestions. Among others, we enjoyed the elegantly decorated, fully equipped cottage, the direct interaction with nature, the numerous discoveries the splendid beaches, the delicious food at the local tavernas...Particularly unforgettable are the taste of the deliciuos local olive oil, the midnight walk around Randi under fullmoon light, and first and foremost most the outstanding excursion on the Kaliope and the unique sailing experience that was offered by the hosts and which gave us great sensations. Magic memories!

Meeting people from many different countries and cultures enriches our lives, so the enjoyment is shared by us as much as our visitors. We hope to see you again sometime. “Excellent location, amazing people, great guesthouse”

We went to Pelion in July 2013 to spend three days with my husband and three other friends. Chris and Kathryn greeted us very warmly, offering homemade olive oil and wine for our first night there. During our stay there, we were able to check the whole area around the cottage, from the beaches that are just a few kilometres away, to Tsangarada, at the other side of Pelion. We spent a lot of time in the olive store cottage though, because it has a very picturesque and pretty yard, overlooking the sea, surrounded by olive trees. The house has everything we could ask for if we wanted to prepare a full meal, suntan in the yard or read calmly in the terrace. Chris and Kathryn are definitely warm people, with great stories to tell and would love to see them again. I definitely recommend this place for all different kinds of travellers. It has something for everyone. I will be back very soon. Thank you again Chris and Kathryn!

We are delighted that you enjoyed your time here discovering some of the beautiful places and wonderful nature that exists in Pelion. We have great memories of taking you to discover and explore the hidden caves of Thetis and Pelius on your last day. We hope you are able to stay a little longer next time.
