I took the noon trip on the Sum Fun an Aug Saturday. Parking was very limited, expect to pay extra ($18) for rod rental if you don't have your own and ($16) for the day non-resident fishing license which you can easily buy there in spite of all the info on their website that suggests you buy it online, print it and bring it with you. The trip cost me $80 plus tip. The Captain was very nice, Boat was very clean. The boat left the dock late, then we stopped for bait so probably out of the harbor 20-25 min late. There wasn't really any instructions on what to do. I was handed a left hand reel but after a few casts realized I could swap the handle sides. 2 of the 3 deck hands seemed pretty inexperienced. Typical party boat trip with the line tangles. Using live bait, no bait in the front of the boat so I was tripping my way to the back to get bait every few minutes, until I suggested they bring bait to the front tanks which they did. The day was windy and we moved 5 times. We came back in a little early probably had 3 hrs of fishing on a 5 hr trip. Some kids hogging the back of the boat even when the captain called to rotate, they said there dad was friends with the captain. To sum it up the trip was pretty much self service and shorter than it should have been. The only thing that makes it a 3 star is I caught several fish, all to small to keep. Ive spent less and had much better service although not in CA.
