We decided to try Jons because of the good reviews it has received. The restaurant is tucked into a corner of the Dana Point Harbor and is a little difficult to find because there are no signs that lead you there. The menu is good with a number of selections. We ordered scallops and fried fish. When our food arrived, I noticed how small the scallops were and the fish filets. For the price we paid I expected to get larger versions of these items. The quality of the food is okay. There was nothing exceptional about it. They also serve the standard run of the mill cole slaw which I abhor. And the plate comes with fries which are not tasty at all. They seem to be frozen bag fries. We will not be back. For being right on the water I expected to get seafood that looked like it was fresh from the sea.

This venue is a lower-cost alternative to the sit down places in the Dana Point Harbor area. We ordered takeout at the counter. Service was excellent and patient; we wanted to customize our order and they worked with us. For $30, we received plenty of food for 2 people with a few leftovers for the next day. The only concern was that some of the food may have been too salty to suit us. Items included calamari sandwich, cole slaw, smoked salmon, breaded fish typical of "fish & chips" and fries.

Decent enough. We would return.

If you enjoy fresh fish, you will love this place. Not only is it a market, it is a cafe! The fish we had was unbelievable. Quick, friendly and the best sea bass ever! Super casual. Super good.

Ate here late Thursday afternoon, February 15, 2018. Have been coming since the early '80's when I lived nearby. Now, once every few years when I visit So Cal. Still as good as the first time. You can't get fresher unless you caught and cooked it at sea. Got a bit expensive in recent years, but I've yet to find better, so I won't complain about price for this quality. Try the 4 piece Fish and Chips ($13.95), served with coleslaw and home made tartar sauce...ask for their cocktail sauce, which is a cut above for dipping fish! No beer or wine, but you can purchase at cafe next door and bring in.
