First the positives: great location for all things in the East Bay. The rooms are adequate size with comfortable beds. Wireless Internet is included! The view of the bay and San Francisco was beautiful.

Now, the negatives: the WORST parking lot in the world. Poorly designed with inadequate width to park any vehicle larger than a Mini. Not even any space to turn around for those not entering the controlled parking. Every time we returned to the hotel we had to wait for someone to make a multi point u-turn to exit. The wireless, although included, is painfully slow. We were charged a premium for a king bed bay view room. Unfortunately, the room was right next to the elevator. We were able to hear the "ding" of the elevator anytime it stopped at our floor or the floors directly above and below. Since we were being charged for a premium bay view room I find this unacceptable.

All things considered, it was a pleasant stay in the right area. With just a few changes it could be much better.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the elevator.

Thank you for taking the time to respond on your experience while staying with us here at the Hilton Garden Inn San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge. Please let me address your concerns one at a time. The original design of the controlled parking was not well thought out and it is confusing. We have been discussing this with upper management and they agree. We hope that some time this year we can make corrections to the parking lot and the traffic flow. The wireless internet is 75% complete on the upgrade we started last year. We didn't realize how long this upgrade would take. But when its complete it will be top of line and super fast. We are hoping this project will be completed by June. As far as the noise, please let us know at the front desk when you check in that you do not want to be next to the elevator and we will do the best we can to fulfill your request.

We appreciate your business and we listen to your concerns. We will continue to improve our product in the near future.

Sincerely

Sal

We stayed in this hotel for a long weekend. The hotel is nice overall, and the price was reasonable good for the location. However, since the price only included the room, and we got to pay for breakfast (~15$) and parking (~10$), the price ended up to be not exceptional! In addition, our vacation was mainly enjoying San Francisco. Since the hotel is located across the bay bridge, we paid toll (~5$) every time we wanted to cross the bay bridge to San Francisco! Given all these extra costs, I think it would have been easier to stay somewhere closer and pay a little more for a "bed and breakfast/free parking" hotel.

Room Tip: Choose the mountain view rooms... You get to save ~20-30$ per night, and you are not missing much. T...

Thank you for taking the time to respond on your experience while staying with us here at the Hilton Garden Inn San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge. I understand your concern, but let me elaborate more on your conclusion. Hotel rates in the city range from $50-100 more per night. Parking at hotels range from $45-55 per night. Dining options are plentiful, but at a cost. While having to drive over the bay bridge at a cost of $5 per trip into the city sounds like a lot, I believe the savings from everything else is worth it.

We appreciate your business and hope to see you back real soon.

Sincerely

I agree with others that it's not a good place to bring a family, but Hilton has won me over with their Garden Inns when I travel on business and this location is no exception. The staff is always accommodating and helpful - from the front desk to the restaurant to the cleaning people.

Internet is a bit slow. It's fine for checking email, but if you have a web-meeting or want to stream some media in your downtime, it's a bit hit or miss.

Very clean and the breakfast buffet can accommodate hearty eaters or those of us who prefer more healthy options. The workout facility is pretty decent too. It's very clean and the machines are all in nice shape. Limited free weights, but it's just fine for business travel when you need some exercise and want to maintain your routine.

Thank you for taking the time to respond on your experience while staying with us here at the Hilton Garden Inn San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge. Please let me attached what I informed another guest. "We agree, there is not a lot for kids to do at the property, but let me offer a few suggestions. There is shopping and a movie theater on Bay street which is only a couple of blocks away, which you can either walk, take our shuttle or take the Emeryville Go Around which all are complimentary. We also offer free HBO but limited on their programming schedule. We also have a nice walking path that leads to a great park overseeing the bay. Many people do cook outs or just take a ball and play catch. With our free internet, many guest down load free games for the kids to play on their computers. And you can finish this off with our complimentary cookies at the front desk served every evening after 4pm." In addition, we are in the process of upgrading our internet service with more band width and it should be up and running in the next 60 days.

We appreciate your business and hope to see you back soon.

Sincerely

Sal

This hotel is serviceable as far as the business traveler is concerned, you can get a drink and dinner in the lobby and you'll get a decent nights sleep and you'll get to the airport on time. However, we stayed for one night as a family in the middle of a week long vacation to S.F. and the East Bay. This hotel doesn't really cut it for families. The cable was very limited, movies extremely expensive to rent, and nothing within walking distance. Also, no pool - which was a big bummer for our seven year old especially knowing that there were other, better, options nearby. We ended up driving to a nearby Trader Joe's and buying cereal, milk and fruit for a light dinner and paying $18.00 to rent one viewing of Tin Tin - which probably isn't that bad considering it is a newish movie but the other viewing options were so limited that this really was the only thing that was going to make the evening palatable to our kid.

Room Tip: Don't choose a "Mountain View" room, a more accurate title for these rooms would be &q...

Stayed here for four nights. Exactly what I expected. (Including very slow internet which is par for the course at all HGIs). Breakfast was the normal buffet plus made to order if you wanted to wait. If i need to stay in that area again, i'll be back.

Room Tip: Definitely get the bridge view or you'll be overlooking the freeway.

Thank you for taking the time to respond on your experience while staying with us here at the Hilton Garden Inn San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge. We agree that our internet is slow, but the good news is that it is being upgraded with fiber optics and larger bandwidth. So within 60 days everyone staying here that utilizes the internet will see a noticeable improvement. Best part is it is still complimentary. Also I wanted to mention that there is Bay Street shopping with many shops, restaurants and a movie theater. It is with in walking distance plus there is also our shuttle and also the Emeryville Go Around which is a complimentary van that takes guest around the city for free.

Thank you for staying with us we appreciate your business. Hope to see you back soon.

This was our third time staying at this hotel and positively the last. We will never going back to this one again. Me and my wife had a very very bad experience with one of the Front Desk clerk when we ask for a little favor since we already checked out and we had to let them keep our bags for few hours since our flight was that later in the afternoon. She was very unprofessional, my wife went to the desk and ask her maybe she could help her print out our boarding pass, she asked my wife 3 times to repeat the question ( I am not sure if she listen or she cannot understand simple english). The clerk answered back with "I apologized but I cannot help you with that" instead she pointed the business center and told my wife to print our boarding pass there ourselves, my wife was pregnant and asked her maybe she can just print it for her since there was no vacant computer in the business center and she was tired from walking around, this ridiculous clerk answered her back "Mam I am pregnant too and I have to stand here for 8 hours" WOW!!! what a great customer service. We just don't have time to complain at that moment since we need to catch our flight.
We come to think that this wasn't the first time this clerk ruined our stay at this hotel. My wife remember her name (Joanne) from one of our encounter with her in the middle of the night when we keep calling the desk but no one was answering, so after like 5 calls I went down because I want to arrange a wake up call and a cab for us but guess what you can tell that she was sleeping because of the sleep marks on her face, the other clerk she said was in the restroom and she tried to apologize which I was ok with but as soon as I turned my back she's trying to point out that I don't have any right to be mad since my rate was from expedia which she was trying to say was cheap. It doesn't matter if we are paying cheap rate or the most expensice rate this hotel offers, we are still a guest and we expect to get the same treatment as anybody else.

The property is nice and convinient but it's the people like HER that works here that makes it look UGLY and UNPLEASANT. We do not want any apology letter or anything better yet change your staff.
