On Ash and 7th so easy to find from the freeway. Staff were very good - amenable, always with a smile and giving good information. Room was clean, well maintained and spacious and with all the expected facilities, though the ac was pretty noisy. There is a happy hour - free drinks at the bar - Tues to Thursday when we stayed - so early evening drinks on a balcony overlooking Ash Street down to the harbour area was a real pleasure after a day in and about the city. Buffet breakfast was pretty good with a variety of options for all tastes and part of the deal. The hotel is four or five blocks from either Gaslamp of Little Italy areas of the city where we ate two nights - walk-able but the less adventurous might want to take a ride at night. The hotel area doesn't seem to be serviced much by public transport systems. There isn't much immediately around the hotel itself which feels a little soulless - and eating options are limited without going to livelier places (though there is a rather unassuming restaurant right across the street which was excellent as it turns out). Parking was billed on top ($19 per day) which isn't advertised prominently and adds to the cost; and the parking area is really dark and cramped with incredibly tight turns for an SUV - felt more like a Sherman Tank in...More
