Last nite my wife and I went to the Restaurant 301 for a special dinner. The special was 2 whole crabs with Brussels sprouts and polenta. The crabs tasted funny, the texture wasn't firm at all and even in the darkened room the crab looked translucent. They tasted raw - totally uncooked. The sprouts and polenta was great. We didn't eat most of the crab but took it home. The next morning when we looked at them we confirmed that most of the crab was "raw". Hoping we don't get sick. Don't know if the restaurant buys raw crab and cooks themselves or buys them cooked but these were definitely not cooked. Big disappointment for the price or any price..

You don’t want to miss out on staying & dining here! Don’t miss happy hour 4-6pm with great Martinis and Manhattans for $3.50 and good eats too!
They have a Grand Award from Wine Spectator - with amazing wines!

It was the service that killed it, honestly. It was almost rated a 3, it took so long to dine. And it seemed like each server was on their own; No one was helping each other. It's a gorgeous place, wine list is excellent, food is pretty darn good when averaged out. But man, they need to double the staff.

While some of the signature cocktails were not available, we enjoyed what got (and learned that local vodka is actually pretty good). We somehow landed a bottle of wine retailing for 120 dollars for 50, and it was of course amazing. We sampled each of the oyster sauces wth raw oysters and they each were delicious. The prime rib was excellently cooked, and the gnocchi were pretty darn good. We'd return, maybe on an evening with no other engagements.

The food here is great as is the dining experience. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable. With an outstanding wine list it was good to have some suggestions. The menu is creative and well executed. I loved the steak, the crab cakes, the oysters, the marrow tart, the onion soup. By the way most of the food is local and mostly organic. AND the dessert menu, all made there. I could go on. Really a fine dining experience. Stay at the hotel to continue the experience.

Dinner for three a few nights ago: two ate off bar menu, one just having soup and a salad, the other soup and fish tacos. The tacos were deemed "good" but nothing special; both liked the onion soup a lot, and the duck salad was mostly duck, a favorite of that diner. One diner had sturgeon (very nice!) and a Caesar salad that was very small. One martini was total drink order. Total price with tax = $104.

The service was attentive but slow; kitchen problems? Most tables had diners, but the restaurant was not bustling.

From at least five visits to Restaurant 301, my view is that it can often be very good, but prices are on the high side and sometimes the value isn't there. Still, it's definitely that place with special atmosphere if you're looking for a special occasion.
