The location of Mountain View Retreat is spectacular! The clue is in the name, this lower part of a luxurious villa is situated on one of Marin County's most beautiful hills, with wonderful views and surrounded by sundrenched terraces. The infinity pool is a real bonus, as is the covered open-air lounge. The accommodation is of the highest standard, and the very friendly landlady will make sure all your needs are met. Fairfax is ideal for venturing out to the countryside, seaside, and San Francisco. We couldn't stop smiling being in this little bit of paradise, and you're in for a treat!!!
Vicki this lovely space is technically located as part of the owner’s house, you’re in your own private area, on a level below and facing away from the house. The separate entry is from the outside, down a little outside stairway and is private. The ambiance of this quiet setting is lovely, sweet, romantic and relaxing. There are French doors to private outside decks, one from the bedroom to a hot tub deck and the other from the living room to a large, covered patio with curtains that can be closed. The French doors bring the magnificent views right inside and help to make the rooms feel spacious and open. Each room is intrinsically cozy with what looks to me to be cherry hardwood floors and wainscoting. The living room has stained glass windows. The bathroom looks like one from a luxury hotel and the kitchen is well laid out and has everything you could think of to make your stay comfortable, including a full size washer and dryer. The rooms are all tastefully, lovingly and thoughtfully put together by someone who obviously cares about making a very special experience for her guests. And oh, did I mention the bed? The bed is pure heaven. We were greeted by the owner, Vicki, who had turned on and dimmed the lighting on the outdoor patio, setting the mood for our arrival. She had done the same in the bedroom, a welcoming touch that let us know we were going to be pampered. The pool is an infinity pool, which was breathtaking, although weather prevented us from partaking. Thoughtful kitchen staples, special little treats that said, “Welcome,” a pool, hot tub, steam shower, a retreat set in a mountain paradise and a gracious and thoughtful host... and by the way, the little town at the bottom of the hill is close by and absolutely adorable. Great restaurants, a movie theater, a wine bar, natural food store, etc. A highway to anywhere you’d want to go is 5 to 15 mins away. We had Sunday morning coffee at the local coffee shop while listening to a local guy play really good guitar and sing mellow songs with nuance and soul. It all added up to the perfect stay and we WILL return.
