My wife and I spent 4 1/2 days at the Sportsman's Club in late July, 2014. Everything about our experience was top-notch. I expected good fishing but it was better than I thought it would be. Running your own boat and handling all of the fishing is so much more rewarding then sitting on a guided charter. And the calm waters allow for an open boat so you feel part of the raw, wild country around you. The staff was attentive to every whim and made us feel at home. The food was great, the cabin's clean and warm. We got everything we hoped for and more. A great vacation that we will never forget.

This is not a five star hotel. It is a five star fishing experience! Barb and Simon are great hosts. They literally spend their whole day running, caring for their guest's needs. They truly work hard at making the trip the best it can be. The staff are equally caring and hard working. The location is also five star! It is truly one of the most beautiful places in the world. You can see everything wild here, killer whales, porpoises, whales, sharks, seals, eagles, falcons, hawks... a regular Canadian Safari!! Oh, and the fishing is to die for! Caught my first Tyee there... OK, my only Tyee there! But I wear the Tyee Ball cap I received in recognition from the Lodge with great pride! You can't go wrong here!

i have been to over 3 different fishing lodges off the BC coast. This was by far the most enjoyable in every aspect. The staff remembered your name from the second you met them. The accommodation was extremely clean. The food was by far the best and most consistent out of any lodge i have visited. I also took sales staff on this trip and it was by far the best team building i have ever done. I have flown staff all over North America on trips in the past 10 years, and little did i know a fishing trip to this lodge was as far as i needed to go! I highly recommend this lodge. Each and every staff member truly goes out of their way to ensure you have the best results fishing, geared up properly, and of course fed well. I can assure you from the numerous guests i met at the lodge who have never missed a season for over 5-15 years at this lodge, you will not find a better place!

My wife and I do not fish very often (probably once in our ten years of marriage). We booked this trip as a way to get out and see some of the rugged beauty of the Pacific Northwest and to maybe catch a fish along the way. I had heard about Rivers Inlet through a co-worker and thought it really sounded interesting.
We were both completely impressed and thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Every detail, from the amazingly scenic flight up the coastline through some of the most breathtaking scenery imaginable, to the staff, accommodations, and food, were all beyond our expectations. Not knowing anything about salmon fishing, we made arrangements for a guide our first day. It was the right thing to do as he was knowledgeable and very patient in teaching us the skills we would need over the next several days as we went it alone. He helped us feel confident with the techniques and we were successful in the next few days in loading up a couple of boxes with some beautiful salmon to bring home. We had no idea we were going to enjoy the fishing as much as we did.
It's easy to see all the great comments about the world class fishing and the beautiful setting, but one of the aspects we most enjoyed was meeting the other guests. There are truly some fascinating people who are either there for the first time or who have been coming to Rivers Inlet for years and the casual ambience of the common areas and dining together really allow you time to meet some very interesting travelers.
I can really not say enough about how much my wife and I enjoyed our experience. From the moment we booked, through the follow up since our trip, everyone at Rivers Inlet made us feel welcome and valued. They provided excellent equipment, fantastic food and first class service. We both look forward to returning.

After the breathtaking flight up the coast you settle into the Rivers Inlet experience. Barbara, Simon and the "Crew" work tirelessly to ensure your stay is comfortable and rewarding. From the helpful dock hands to the smiling ladies throughout the lodge, all aspects of your stay are taken care of. The fishing is second to none. With or without a guide, you come back to the lodge with some beauties. Sure is nice to stock the freezer with your catch. I'll be back with family or the "buds".

If you enjoy mediocre buffet food, this is the place for you. There is no chef per se..just a few kids running the kitchen. Nothing special there at all. While the rooms were clean.. and the beds were comfortable, it was small and the bathroom was ridiculous. The toilet was extremely tight and a shower so small you couldn't change your mind in there.. Boats were clean but had trouble with the equipment. When I got home our local fishmonger called and told us our fish were poorly filleted and some had fins left on them. Never seen that before. Personally I would not return as the money would be better spent on a higher quality lodge. I expected a much better experience than I had but sadly that was my fishing trip for the year. I have been to many lodges and have never been asked to tip let alone told to tip 2 to 3 hundred dollars..I find that distasteful. On the up side ,, we did limit out on our fish which was GREAT !

Thanks for the Trip Advisor review, we take all comments seriously if sent from a guest at the lodge.
In response, our two chefs are journeyman chefs who have worked for many years at the Barefoot Bistro in Whistler & have been with us for a few years. They make all the breads daily & pay great attention to their food preparation.
A few years ago, I had new guest accommodations built, & unfortunately a few of the rooms have quite a tight space for the toilet due to an error in following the plans. For large people, we have other very spacious toilets spaces & showers in at least four other bathrooms which are available to all. It appears that our guest did not know of these other bathrooms & I am sorry.
As for the equipment in the boats, the marine environment is not kind to our GPS units & we have new equipment installed as soon as we know of any problems. Downriggers are often destroyed by inexperienced users & these too are change promptly.
Thanks for the update on the salmon & fins left on them, this is not usual & must be addressed as it may have been one particular fish cleaner who did this. There is no obligation to tip & all our guest information makes a note of this. At least you enjoyed the great fishing so I am relieved that something good came from your trip.
In 31 years I have never received a review like this one, usually the guests are brimming with compliments about everything , & this year has been no different than the last 30 years. I am grateful for your comments & we'll continue to do our best to heed all constructive criticisms so that we can continue to be the best.
