“Beautiful place to watch, walk, listen, and zen out....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 March 2012

Super easy to access.
Tons of sea glass.
Amazingly beautiful.
Great place to sit high up on a rock and watch the sea churn and crash and just zen out. I swear an hour alone watching the sea from here de-aged me 5 years.

“Neat to see, but not what we expected”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 March 2012

My best friend and I were in Mendocino over the weekend and kept hearing about Glass beach, so we decided to check it out. It was interesting and neat to see, but not quite as impressive or as overwhelming to see as we'd expected. I am a science teacher, so the idea that it is really all trash and the history behind it was interesting to me, however the beach itself was a bit unimpressive. Worth a walk down on a nice day though, as the coast in general in that area is just so pretty.

“Ok- but not all that special”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 March 2012

In the old days, you could find all sorts of things, including some brilliant glass. In the last couple of decades the city council decided to 'clean it up' and spoiled a lot of what was precious about it. Still worth collecting glass- but how much 'red' or 'blue' can you find?

“We ended up spending hours here!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 March 2012

Who knew an old dumpsite would yield such amazing beauty? We had to scale quite a cliff to get down to the particular area we chose to go to, but it was worth the bumps along the way down! haha! At first sight we were amazed that there were not just a few pieces of glass here and there, but that the ENTIRE beach was covered in the smooth multicolored pieces! Some were tiny, (like aquarium rocks), and some were large as golf balls. Many shades of green, blue, amber, and clear as well as the rare find of pinks and purples. Now that State Parks has taken over the beach it is advisable to leave the treasures for the next generations to enjoy, but we still had a great time looking and collecting the smooth glass pieces to compare before placing them back where they belong. We ended up spending the good part of two hours poring over the beach without even realizing it! Fun, fun, fun!!!
