What lifts the Ocean Breeze above average is the friendliness and helpfulness of Linda, the owner. This two-story facility is mostly used as short-term housing for nurses attending to patients at a nearby hospice, and a few students from a nearby culinary academy were also staying there during our visit. But it's also a bargain for vacationers when rooms are available. Ft. Bragg is a great location if you want to be close to Mendocino but avoid its high lodging prices. We paid $59 for a one-night stay in early June. We had a downstairs room with a queen-sized bed, microwave, coffeepot, and small refrigerator. They also offer free high-speed wireless Internet access. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The motel is located on the main street, as are most of the Ft. Bragg lodgings, although it's set back a bit from the street. Attractions nearby include the wonderful Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden and the Guest House Museum.
