We planned a road trip in Newfoundland from St. Johns to Gros Morne and back, and to break up the long drive back east we decided to stay for a night along the way. What a great decision that turned out to be!

We had at first searched for a hotel in Gander but found nothing appealing, so we broadened our search and came upon the Prints of Whales, which turned out to be nicely situated on our route. What a gem we found!

The entire house was beautiful, and their decorations were all whale themed. So cute! The room was the most comfortable and clean we had on the entire trip. We felt right at home. Be sure to read the binder in your room for a history of the B&B and its lovely hosts, the area, and the story behind Nanook.

The owners, Ruth and Wayne, were simply the best. They suggested a few nearby sights and trails we could take in during our short stay with them (and pointed out where we could see an iceberg, since we missed them in Twillingate!) and recommended places to eat. Wayne even made reservations for us at the nearby Inn at Happy Adventure and Chucky's Restaurant (check it out—it's unexpected elegance in a small fishing harbour). They served a delicious and delightful breakfast—again, the best we had on our eight-day trip.

We're looking forward to going back and staying there again, but for longer than a night. Highly, highly, highly recommended! You can't go wrong with this place.

Room Tip: All the rooms are nice!

My family of four stayed here in July. The hosts were extremely warm and welcoming. The beds were comfortable and the other guests were lovely. Breakfast was fantastic. I have Celiac disease and Wayne and Ruth were able to accommodate this need this as well as cater to my two young kids. We all left with our bellies full and a smile on our faces. It was my husband's first time at a B and B and the standard was set very high.

Room Tip: The Orca room has a king size bed as well as a pull-out couch and a private full bathroom.

July was a very busy season ago and you still remember your stay. That, in itself, brings us pleasure. It is always a highlight to have a family stay with us and yours was certainly not an exception. Your two boys were a pleasure and this peninsula offers so much for them to do. We hope that you will continue to remember your Newfoundland and Labrador vacation and that you will return to visit us again one day.

Sandringham through Salvage was one of our most pleasant surprises in a month of exploring Newfoundland. The early afternoon welcome by Wayne and Ruth with our room waiting was fantastic. Wayne had maps and information at hand with suggestions to our personal needs. The trails around Salvage, the recommended restaurant, to the sunset at Sandy Cove made this stop special. Their B&B was one of our favorite. The Orca room was spacious and a relief from some smaller facilities experienced. A wonderful experience all around right to the breakfast.

The Prints of Whales was our favourite B&B ever! Wayne and Ruth were very special hosts and wonderful people. They even gave us a lovely picture to remember our great times. We had a guitar musical evening encouraged by our hosts and their very nice relatives and other guests as well. The food for breakfast was delish! A nice sunset dinner down the road at the Happy Adventurer Inn was remarkable both for the food and scenery. Loved it all!

Room Tip: The blue room was beautiful and spacious.

Thank you for a very positive review. We were lucky to have you as our guests on a remarkable evening when we were entertained and uplifted by a very talented couple. That evening was one of the highlights of a remarkable tourist season, one where we enjoyed the company of so many positive and out-going guests. We are also blessed both by geography and facilities to have the variety of attractions and restaurants to offer those wishing to experience some of the unique characteristics of Newfoundland and Labrador. Thank you again to you and all our guests.

My wife and I traveled around eastern NL during the last two weeks of Sept 2016 staying in B & Bs. We would have no hesitation returning to any of them. We stayed at the Prints of Whales for three nights. It was perfect: comfort, food, and conversations all excellent. There are so many nice touches by Ruth and Wayne. Breakfasts were large, varied and delicious. The homemade breads and jams were much appreciated. The Prints of Whales is a great base from which to explore the settlements and natural attractions of the Eastport Peninsula.

Room Tip: Orca room was spacious making it great for a multi-night stay.

Homemade bread and preserves are our way of sharing a little of the traditional Newfoundland and Labrador experience. We want our guests to feel both welcome and comfortable; we are pleased that we succeeded in making you feel "at home". We are also pleased that you enjoyed both your stay and the area. Come again.
