We planned a road trip in Newfoundland from St. Johns to Gros Morne and back, and to break up the long drive back east we decided to stay for a night along the way. What a great decision that turned out to be!
We had at first searched for a hotel in Gander but found nothing appealing, so we broadened our search and came upon the Prints of Whales, which turned out to be nicely situated on our route. What a gem we found!
The entire house was beautiful, and their decorations were all whale themed. So cute! The room was the most comfortable and clean we had on the entire trip. We felt right at home. Be sure to read the binder in your room for a history of the B&B and its lovely hosts, the area, and the story behind Nanook.
The owners, Ruth and Wayne, were simply the best. They suggested a few nearby sights and trails we could take in during our short stay with them (and pointed out where we could see an iceberg, since we missed them in Twillingate!) and recommended places to eat. Wayne even made reservations for us at the nearby Inn at Happy Adventure and Chucky's Restaurant (check it out—it's unexpected elegance in a small fishing harbour). They served a delicious and delightful breakfast—again, the best we had on our eight-day trip.
We're looking forward to going back and staying there again, but for longer than a night. Highly, highly, highly recommended! You can't go wrong with this place.
