Unfortunately, this gorgeous hotel didn't hold up to the standards that the Ritz Carlton offers.
We planned a romantic trip to SB and booked a suite with a FULL ocean view. When we arrived we were told our room wasn't available so they put us in a dark, dungeon of a room with the only view being the walk path down to the pool. It was loud and not romantic at all. The next night they put us in a partial ocean view room where we had to go stand on the edge of the patio to see water. Otherwise, it was a view of the hillside. Also, having to change rooms when you are only planning one full day somewhere was super inconvenient.
We probably wouldn't have gone had we known the room we booked wasn't available. Any other RC or Four Seasons would have upgraded us rather than downgrading us. They did comp our first night but honestly, it was such a tiny crappy room it didn't help.
We also went and had a couples massage in the spa, we booked a 50-minute massage and ended up with a little less than 30 minutes. Again, not very RC like at all.
We ate at Angel Oak the first night, food was good. Service was good although the restaurant was nearly empty and it took them 20 minutes to seat us (we even had a reservation.
All and all we won't be back.
