Owner description: Western Science Center is home to a fascinating array of Native American artifacts and Ice Age fossils that were unearthed at Diamond Valley Lake. You'll be moved by "Max", the largest mastodon found in the Western United States, as well as "Xena", a Columbian mammoth. Let your imagination run wild as you walk on tempered glass which houses "Little Stevie", a large mastodon installed beneath the museum floor to re-create the actual dig site.

The displays are fun and interactive. My daughter was able to dig for dinosaur bones and make her own fossil. The movie room is unique and interesting. The movie itself was interesting too.

My family was staying in Hemet and decided to give this museum hooked to a school a try. The museum itself is pretty small with really only 3 rooms and a movie room. The movie was 2 short films. Both fine. The main room with mammoth skeletons was nice too.

We kind felt the museum was worth an hour but not for the price. It could have been cheaper.

Had a great visit to the Western Science Ctr which is probably unknown to most people but loved it and will definitely come back with my grandchildren. It’s a high quality treasure right in our midst. Forget driving to LA or SD; it’s right here and easy to get to. A must visit for Riverside County residents and more.

We actually attended a fundraiser event at the Western Science Center. The museum is small, only a couple of rooms inside, but it is a cool place.

This is not just a museum, but a Science Center. It acts as a camp during the summer for children interested in Science. The first Saturday of month they hold a free Science Saturday that helps teach young children about science. There is a different theme every month!

The inside of the museum is fairly small, but they have exhibits that change often. They have one of the best collections of mastodons, recovered from the local area while digging Diamond Valley lake. They have had scientists come from all over the world to study this collection.

The bone room is small but very impressive. They even have a small theater room for films of the excavation, animations showing the many creatures on display, and even guest speakers.
