“This was the perfect retreat!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 January 2010

Nestled in the San Jacinto mountains in Riverside County in Idyllwild, is Strawberry Creek Inn. It offers a nice relaxing atmoshpere to just get away from the "hustle/bustle" or there are hiking trails for the active nature lovers. There is a nice restaurant in walking distance, or by car there are options for dining and/or shopping. We stayed in the cottage house which reminded me of the rustic feel of a log cabin. It was nicely appointed with a full kitchen, indoor/outdoor dining, wood burning fireplace and jacuzzi for two. The cottage also had a queensize murphy bed and king size bed upstairs. Outside was a deck with the creek behind the cottage. A gourmet breakfast is served daily with organic food. The main house cozy and comfortably decorated using an eclectic fusion of styles. The service was exceptional. The innkeepers, were polite and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. I will definitely return to Strawberry Creek Inn again!

The property has a feel to it that is part rustic mountain home, part organic chicken farm, and part world traveler museum. It's cool.

Value: For $99 (on a Thursday), we had a great experience. Very much appreciated the price point. Room was just fine, and the shower was great. We spent most of our time in the common areas, pretending it was our house. Lovely, flavorful breakfast, and not so heavy that you need to recover from it. Good Internet.

Location: Idyllwild is not the easiest place to get to, but worth it - you will feel a world away. The B&B is on a main thoroughfare, but set back off the road. Restaurants are within walking distance.

Innkeepers: The guys are unobtrusive and leave you to enjoy your time; however, if you need anything or have questions, they are very friendly and accommodating.

It was our first time in 10 years my husband and I had time away together as a couple. Alone without any children. We had been to many resorts, from Hi tech to designer specialty hotels. We loved it all. But this inn was unique. e stumbled into the most quaint and beautiful scene of what we imagined a warm, cozy, and nurturing atmosphere would look like. " This is the place" I said. We didn't do any research, just went on our instincts.
The propierters were genuinely kind and ready to please in a way that didn't invade your own space. Like old friends you wanted them to both share your time together.
The culinary waked up my tatse buds and even accommodated my husband vegetarian palate. The decor was imaginative, elegant, country, sheik and diverse. Everything was delightfully thought out. The grounds were tranquil. Many of spots to sit and contemplate.
Rodney and Ian thanks for a joyous time.

we had such a wonddeful stay at the strawberry creek inn. the owners rodney and ian make everyone feel so much at home. they obviously love what they do and i have to say their breakfasts are the best i've ever had at a b&b. the grounds are beautiful and peaceful and the fact that their chickens lay fresh eggs every morning is a total bonus!! i can't wait to go back and gel. they also have a 2nd place called "they bunkhouse". a lovely rustic knotty pine group of rooms and i loved sitting out on my little balcony every night just looking a the millions of stars and listening to nature. i have stayed in many b&b in the u.s and europe and this is by far my favorite...suzie kane

We spent the Labor Day weekend at the Strawberry Creek Inn and my only disappointment is that our stay was too short. It was my first trip to Idyllwild (my boyfriend had been 3+ times) and we could not have been happier with our pick for accommodations. The location is very close to the middle of town and we walked to dinner on Saturday night and ate at the fabulous Mountain Restaurant up the road. Our room was impeccably clean and the entire property is very well maintained. The delicious breakfast is served at 9 am in a large, lovely room and the food is prepared and served with love. We didn’t stay long enough to relax and “do nothing” such as enjoy one of the oversized hammocks strung between pines, next to the creek – what a shame! During our stay, the property was completely booked and everyone we met told us that they, too were very happy with the accommodations and the food. The innkeepers were wonderful and I felt very welcomed the entirety of my stay. I must confess that I am not the type of person who would normally book at a B & B because I like my privacy and don’t want to feel like I’m staying in someone else’s home while I’m on vacation. I think that this property works for a B & B lover and a regular hotel stayer because the innkeepers make you feel very comfortable (and would assist in any way, at any time, if you were to need anything) but they leave you to enjoy your stay. We stayed at this place because it came highly recommended and we will certainly make sure that all of our friends stay here when they come to Idyllwild.

We had such a wonderful time at the SCI. Rodney and Ian did a fantastic job of making our stay comfortable and peaceful... providing the perfect balance of hospitality and privacy. We stayed in the Evergreen room and enjoyed both the inn and the town. The hammocks provided a relaxing atmosphere to take a nap or read a book and we took advantage of the games provided in the main area. The appetizers and breakfast were all wonderful and we are already looking forward to our next visit!

We loved this Bed and Breakfast with a private entrance to our room. The room was very clean (no dust at all!), comfortable bed, fireplace and a/c. Tropical juice was served with breakfast which was a welcome change from the standard orange juice that most places serve. A nice little dish of fresh fruit and a wonderful baked egg dish were just right. They also had some delicious cinnamon bread (homemade?) and the coffee was fabulous. We'd definitely stay here again. Though it's right on the highway it is set back far enough that it's plenty quiet at night. Best night's sleep I'd had in weeks!
