My husband and I arrived around 2 pm. We checked in and since we planned to take a long hike at 3 Sisters Fall, but didn't know how to get there, we asked manager directions. I think it was her son who was more than willing to take time to give us great directions. All staff was friendly and professional. Down to earth. Had a sense of humor. Not robotic like so many stuffy staff at let's say, city hotels. Room was small and no phone, which was great, because no need for a phone when you're alone with hubby and without kids. Quiet. Nothing fancy, but for the price a great deal. Breakfast was decent. Coffee wasn't too great, but who cares. I drank a Monster. Cute place. Nice staff. Great price and for the proximity to town, you just can't beat it.

We stayed for 1 night and had a restful evening. Our room had 2 double beds and small fridge. It was very clean and breakfast was included. This is just one block from Julian's main street and we were able to walk to restaurants and shops. It is an old property, but so is everything else in Julian, so we did not mind. The only negative is there are dark curtains on the window, so bright sun light will wake you in the morning.

There were 2 of us. We arrived late in the evening. The hotel was closed but had a bell to ring for night service. The hotel employee was quick to answer the door, let us in & give us a room. We only stayed for one night. We had a single queen bed & mini fridge in room. The bill came to roughly $77 with Triple A discount.

They serve breakfast in the morning which consisted of various cereals, fruit, toast & bagels. Nothing major but if you want a little something to get you going, then this was adequate.

The only downfall was that once daylight broke, the room was bright. There weren't blackout curtains in the room. Oh, and there wasn't a hair dryer. Not the end of the world but for once I decided not to bring one.

Overall, I've stayed in better but I've stayed in MUCH worse. For our needs, it was just fine. Everything within walking distance. Cute town.

We checked into the Julian Lodge for 45 Minutes, did not even stay. Daughter was feeling ill so we went back home. All we did was put bags in room, walked down the street and came back to check out. Was told a manager would call about a refund. Could not get a return call back. I called a few times and still no answer. My opinion, Bad Managment. Plus the rooms smelled real bad. Next visit will not be at the Julian Lodge.

We stayed at Julian lodge because of the positive reviews but found that our experience was not at all positive. The room was small with an old mattress, an old TV, and no phone. The bathroom floor was sticky so I tried to clean it with some tissues. It was not just sticky but really dirty!!! Shampoo was not provided and neither was a hair dryer. The hot water pressure was so poor that it switched to cold twice while showering. The breakfast was just average with toaster waffles, pasteries, cereal, fruit, and yogurt. We were originally quoted a rate of $85 for Thursday, but we ended up staying on a Friday so the rate was increased to $120. What a rip off!!!

We, our bridal party, and our families stayed at the Julian Lodge for our 4th of July wedding weekend back in 2005. We had such a wonderful time and were so impressed with the establishment, that we were excited to return to the Julian Lodge for our 5th Anniversary. Rafael, the current manager, was helpful in making sure we got the same room we had back then. We were delighted to find that the room was as charming and spacious as ever. Rafael was warm, welcoming and very helpful. He filled us in on what was new in town and the restaurants we shouldn't miss out on. He eagerly supplied us with whatever we needed and was very congratulatory about our anniversary. We very much enjoyed the bountiful continental breakfast and the wonderful conversation with Rafael. Rafael made the weekend very restful and was quick to accommodate us with a late check out so we could finish the town's trivia quiz.

If you want a very clean, large, comfortable room at a reasonable price with management that has the comfort and concerns of its guests in mind, this is the place to stay. The managers, Raphael & Pam ,are extremely attentive to whatever your needs may be. The breakfast offered is self-service, but plentiful--fruit,juices, freshly baked croissants, and rolls, waffles,yogurt.. My wife and I stayed here because all rooms nearer Anza Borrego Park(Borrego Springs) were fully booked, and we are glad we did..Be sure to check out the AAA Special Discount that may be available.
The Park is 45 minutes away, but Julian has a much better atmosphere and has better restaurant choices, ESPECIALLY JEREMY'S ON THE HILL in nearby Wylona,10 minutes away.
