Had a great time with Aiden and Joe (I think that was their names!) today on the Cave Kayak tour. They did a great job telling us about the bay and making the whole trip a lot of fun! It was cloudy and 60 degree water and air so we did wetsuit tops. We are from Michigan so cold water was no problem, pretty sure we didn’t need them but better safe than sorry. You do get wet right away. Definitely a fun family activity.

Thank Andrew H

We did the original La Jolla kayak tour. Having read the description on the website, we were really excited in advance, however the reality of the tour was very different from the advertisement.

Tour essentially consisted of paddling straight out to the sea walls, sitting and waiting for 30mins (very crowded with multiple tour groups, were taken into just one cave for a few moments) and paddling straight back to shore.

We were hoping to go and visit 7 caves and learn about lots of different parts of the area. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case.

In addition, the cost of the tour did not include wetsuits or the cost of a locker, which wasn’t advised when we booked over the phone.

All in all, very poor value for money. We provided this feedback to the manager but he did not seem particularly concerned.

That being said, the instructors were nice and the beach itself is lovely.

Hello, Thank you for spending the time to write your review. My understanding is you did not feel there was value in the tour because it was a busy Easter Weekend day on the water, and you couldn't spend the time you wanted inside Emerald Cave. During the holidays, especially when the weather is nice, we do have to share La Jolla Bay, its Sea Caves and Marine Reserve with others. I'm glad you guys got inside Emerald Cave, that it was a beautiful day on the water and the instructors were friendly. Some of my favorite days on the water are in the winter when I'm all alone by the caves, but it is also great when it is a busy summer day, the water is warm and there are stoked people all sharing La Jolla Bay. We hope you enjoy the rest of your spring. -Mike
