“Solid Chinese Food”

Classic Chinese Restaurant

You would not expect a relatively large Chinese restaurant in this strip mall close to the LH DMV. Classic is surprisingly good and offers a wide selection of dishes. French filet mignon and egg plant were both excellent, comparable to the level you get at Sam Woo. Service was good and fast on a recent dinner visit with four people.
This restaurant seems to fill up fast around dinner time, and I saw many Asians.

Pros - None were apparent to me
Cons - Service so bad it has to be intentional, bland food served poorly, disinterested management.

Went on a busy Friday night and the place was full. After being seated we were totally ignored. When our order was finally taken the waiter left off one person's dinner, had to wave down a waiter to get it fixed.

Appetizers and mains were served randomly and we had to wait for the fourth persons dinner. Spring rolls were greasy and tasteless, Moo shu pork flavorless, other dinners qualified as marginal in flavor. Chinese families with big tables and lots of food seemed happy so perhaps they just don't like non-Chinese customers? We are still looking for a "go to" Chinese restaurant in the area - this is not it.

Came here with 14 Emeritus classmates and our Spanish teacher for our end of summer session lunch on a Tuesday. It was not easy them to serve all our us who each ordered our own lunch specials, but it all worked out fine! Service could be more attentive, but there were so many of us. The food is authentic Chinese. You would have to drive to San Gabriel Valley or Irvine to get Chinese food like this. For the very reasonable price of the lunch specials, you get tea, soup, rice and an hearty entree. I recommend this restaurant and my husband and I plan to come again on our own.

Seated for 15 min before anyone came to the table. Shirley, the waitress asked for our dinner order, not "can I get you something to drink?" We had to ask twice to even get water!

The menu was so cumbersome that we went for something basic, and it didn't even come with rice!! The sweet and sour chicken was nothing but breading!!

That is our first, and last visit!! We will let everyone we know how bad it is!!

The food is the absolute best Chinese food we've had in the area. We'd been searching for three years for a place like this. Take out is great. Dine in is another story.

Portions are huge and definitely sharable, but service is spotty. Maybe it's a language barrier; many of the clientele was Chinese. Our appetizers came one at a time. We asked for water three times and never got it. When we asked about types of wine, the answer was only, "white and red."

Three of our four main dishes came and we waited and waited for the fourth, finally sharing our three with our other guest. Then, finally, her soup came. Granted, it was the best won ton soup we've found anywhere in the area, but why the bad service?
