Located half mile southeast of the I-5 and Lake Forest Drive interchange, on Rockfield Blvd, and well-hidden in a small strip mall (between Salvation Army and the Boot Barn) the BHAN BAITONG Thai restaurant offers an amazing array of Asian delicacies. Since I am familiar with Chinese and Japanese food, but not Thai food, this restaurant became a “culinary adventure” in which I could try different dishes without hesitation. This small storefront restaurant presents a comfortable modern Asian ambiance. Their food, made to order with fresh quality ingredients, is full of delicious flavors. The way that I can describe our dining experience is a celebration of flavors. I will return to fully explore their menu.
I wanted to find a local Thai restaurant and succeeded with gem. The staff was friendly. The lunch menu offered a nice portion with a complete meal including soup, salad, and rice.
We ordered seafood in spicy sauce and Broccoli with crispy pork. The seafood dish had some flavor but was a dry with no sauce. The broccoli was over cooked and came with just a few small bits of mostly pork rind which were hard and tough after too much deep frying they were like old, dry fried, croutons. They changed the 'crispy pork' dish when we complained to another pork & vegetable dish but this was re-heated and the pork bits were minuscule and of poor quality.
We prefer smaller servings than what most places serve in the US but the meals at Bhan Baiting were very small so whilst inexpensive, not really good value for money.
Thai food here is pretty good and inexpensive. Service is great! We recommend to start with the Tom Kha soup. For main dish, try the Pumpkin Curry and the Pad Thai. For dessert, of course the mango & sticky rice. Enjoy!
