Lake, picnic areas, grills, easy trails, off the grid hard trails, pet friendly in many places, camping available. Huge park, beautiful views of Bay Area, short drive from downtown Livermore. Clean restrooms.

We visit many times each year. The park is particularly beautiful in the early morning, or late afternoon on weekdays or during the off season.

We used this campground as a final overnighter in a rented RV before having to return it to Newark. As such, it was an excellent choice. Easy to find, beautiful location, friendly rangers. Large pitches with full hook-ups, quiet, few people around - just what we needed.
The only downside was the fact that it rained heavily the afternoon/evening we spent there - the first significant rain in 4 months apparently…...but not what UK visitors want, it's the stuff they are trying to escape from!!!
Plenty of shower/WC facilities - a little primitive for my taste, but did the job well.
Sadly we did not have the time (or the weather ) to try the trails etc. but it looked like a wonderful spot within easy reach of the SF conurbation - guess in high summer it's overrun - we were lucky to be there mid-week off season, so had the place pretty much to ourselves!
Would thoroughly recommend.

Where to start, my boyfriend and I came with our dog this past Sunday. We have been coming to Del Valle and renting boats for a while now. Apparently they have a "policy," when you see the boat coming in that you want, you physically have to take the receipt from that guest and walk it up to the cashier? No signs stating this and no manager to explain this outrageous policy.

But moving forward, I miss the older gentleman and the younger kids with respect, whom used to work on the dock.

If a customer does not understand a company's policy it is your job to do the explaining, let alone no signs or information on how to go about getting a different boat. So pretty much chaos and free for all, don’t even bother waiting in line, just go take the other parties receipt. Responses of, "That's how it is," only creates an even bigger problem. "Rosa," whom works down on the dock is the most unprofessional person I have ever come into contact with. Management should be embarrassed hiring someone like her. The customer is not always right, but you should never fuel a situation as an employee, you should be resolving a problem. Her careless remarks and overall confrontational attitude was disgusting. The fact that another "child" working the docks had the audacity to tell myself, "well I don't think I can let you operate a boat, angry," is even more absurd. When your fellow coworker clearly did nothing to resolve an issue, but more or less create a problem. Instead of stooping to Rosa’s clear lack of intelligence on how to handle a confused patron, my boyfriend and I left.

Furthering, I will not spend my money at Del Valle anymore, and you shouldn’t either. The premises were filthy, music blaring, dog poop everywhere, and overall no sense of management or control over disgusting employees.

Stopped by Del Valle Park when visiting LVM to show our daughter where we used to picnic and swim. The area had just closed for seasonal swimming fun, but while walking around the park we saw a buck, doe, and male and female fawn. The place was deserted except for us. Well kept, bathrooms tidy and stocked. Just as we were leaving, two horse riders arrived and we watched as the horses frolicked in the water. Beautiful sunny day and the peaceful sounds of nature were calming and refreshing.

We've camped here several times over the years and the one thing I always hated was the bathrooms in the camp ground. They were termite eaten and open to the sky, the toilets leaked and the floor was always wet. This time we went and there were brand new bathrooms and showers! YAH!! They're basic public bathrooms, with no mirrors or electrical outlets (cuts down on the beauty queens putting on their makeup on and doing their hair in there and tying up the bathroom for everyone else). They're cleaner, except the the disgusting person who pooped on the floor and left it and those who pee on the seats, but that's not the parks fault. They made a special trip out to clean up after the mystery pooper. Open campfires were not allowed due to wildfire danger, which was understandable. We just looked at the stars at night. We had a good time.
They now rent basic cabins that have heaters and air conditioning, no bathrooms inside, they have to use the camp ground bathroom and cook outside. They look cool.
You're in a canyon so bad cell phone reception and you can't see the a good sunrise or sunset.

The campsite was great. We had a travel trailer and we got a spot with electricity and water/dump. There was a very clean common restroom nearby. The surrounding area is very pretty with rolling golden hills and oak trees.
The nearby lake just up the road from the campsite was nice, but there is only one designated swimming spot and they do no allow floats (innertubes, chairs, etc.) in the water. There were lifeguards (at least 5 of them) watching the water and enforcing rules. I would have liked it better if we could float on the water.

Went there to rent a boat but they were all out. So you might want to reserve one. Just walked around and it was good.

This Park was paid for by the public for the public's use. Park management wants to run it like a conservancy - they clearly don't want people there. Go somewhere else....

we took my Catalina 14.2 dinghy sailboat to Del Valle in August, and it seemed like no wind, we left, we thought there was maybe wind we went back.. we sailed it,, it was fun
the wind was from the North but ,, because of the heating of the steep canyon walls, variably, the winds move around shift dramatically through some of the narrows or openings,, we are on a close haul oh no we are on a run oh wait,, very amusing really
