“Disappointed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2012

I booked my stay thru Priceline for cheaper rates which gave us a single queen room. Upon arriving at the hotel, I was surprise that my request for room upgrade to a regular 2-queen wherein I only had to pay additional $15 nightly was not noted. I already phoned the hotel prior to arrival. I had to shelve $132.40 for the 3 nights for a bigger room since the regular 2-queen room was not available on the 1st night. For the 2nd & 3rd night, they asked for $25 addt'l for the regular 2-queen. Note that other Days Inn hotels were asking for $15 only. I just opted for the bigger room coz of the small price difference between the regular 2-queen & the bigger room. The carpet was also dirty & we requested it to be cleaned.

With due respect, we are requesting all our guests that if they are more than 2 persons in the party, kindly reserve room with two beds to avoid any problem at check in time. Some time it becomes big issue if no room with two beds available. We look forward for your cooperation.

Let's start with the pro's and con's.

Pro's:

- Big Room, big bed, has a couch and coffee table (at least my room did).
- WiFi is fairly reliable.
-Has in room safe, coffee maker, pretty standard stuff.
-Cheaper than most other places in this area.

Con's:

-Staff aren't very friendly.
-My toilet was clogged on arrival, caused a HUGE mess in the bathroom. Was offered a plunger and some towels to try and solve the problem which only made it worse. The person working at reception tried to further plunge the toilet but made it worse and flooded the floor even more. Had to bring in a handyman to fix the problem instead of being offered another room (apparently there were none) and was told it'll have to be 'acceptable' as he cannot do anything about it. I will be speaking with the manager tomorrow regarding a refund on my stay as this is GARBAGE.
-Dingy looking place from the outside, old television set.

Basically avoid this place if you want to enjoy your stay. I was forced to stay in as I was unable to shower before heading out in town to explore the nightlife.

Our entire housekeeping staff is fully trained to check the draining system of each and every single room while giving housekeeping service. If they find any problem, they report to the maintenance department and the maintenance person prefers to fix the problem immediately during day time instead of working at midnight. However, if we are getting any emergency, we are trying our best to serve our guests any odd hours. We like to request our valuable guests to please appreciate the person who is helping the guest at middle of the night rather writing negative comments.

Room a little small but is clean and tidy. Nice to have car since this place is away from tourist sites. Good for the price paid and cleaner than a few other motels we stayed at in Hollywood. Downside- rooms could use a paint over, thin towels, sometimes difficult to find parking space when coming back late. Would stay again!

Besides the regular excellent service by the staff of Hollywood Travelodge, I got a very good experience. I was in a hurry to reach Universal Studios because some of my friends were waiting for me. I called the cab but for some reason it was delayed. The manager himself took me to Universal Studios and when I was trying to pay him, he smiled and said “NO THANKS” I will never forget him.

Summary: A decent, relatively cheap, and basic place to stay in LA.

Location: In the Hollywood area, about 10 minutes (drive) from the Kodak Theatre, 15 minutes from the Griffiths Observatory and Universal Studios. We had a car so found it easy to get around, there are buses nearby, but cannkt comment on good / easy they are to use. The hotel is next to two hospitals so you can get ambulance noise, but it's not too bad. There are a couple of fast-food joints nearby which are walkable.

Room: A decent size, with enough space for us and two suitcases. There is also a small fridge and a coffee maker. The bathroom is also a decent size. Note, there was no lift so we had to take our suitcases up the stairs... please bear this in mind when booking this motel.

Cleanliness: Room and bathroom was nice and clean. The corridor / walkways are outdoor are a bit worn but fine, and still clean.

Breakfast: There is a basic breakfast of fruits and cereal available at reception. Hot drinks available too.

Internet: Free wireless is available... the connection is reliable and speedy. We used it for Skyping and uploading pictures and it worked fine.

place is VERY noisy. They had some construction happening in the room right UNDERNEATH us which made it difficult to nap after a long 6 hour drive from the bay area. At night, it wasn't much better, being across the street from the hospital made for many sirens through the evening and let's not forget the drunk people returning to thier rooms at 2am, walls thin, could hear the TV in the next room over.

Room was the smallest I have stayed in possibly ever! It did have a microwave and fridge, that was handy, but the television is old school, (guess I am spoiled and like the flat-screen look)

Felt the room was hot too, we didnt use the a/c and we didn't sleep with the sheets either, too hot.
The location is centralized to Hollywood, Los Feliz, which was good.
I was able to do my morning run to Griffith Park and back without any problems.
Different food within walking distance was a +

Next time in LA, we will definately pay a little more to stay somewhere else..

Spent 6 nights here. The rooms are very clean, wifi worked great, as did the a/c /heater. The neighborhood was very safe and is across the street from the Metro, which will take you up to Hollywood Blvd or to downtown LA. The staff was very helpful. Was a perfect stay.
