Great ocean's view. The breakfast was varied. There were lots of fresh fruits. It was amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful. I think I would stay there again.

I stayed here for News Years Eve and it was wonderful! The hotel staff was helpful and very professional, the rooms were very nice, modern and clean and the view of the ocean was amazing. I am glad I started out 2012 in such an amazing place and when I return to Malibu this is the ONLY place I will stay.

This hotel was one of the most unique places we have ever stayed. The ocean front rooms really feel like you are sleeping on the beach. What I liked best is that it wasn't a snooty, fancy hotel. It was more cozy and relaxed with well thought out details- Which I appreciate way more than a gold staircase. Therefore, If you are looking for over the top amenities with lavish spa and lobby, then you will not find that here. What you will find is a great setting, amazing aesthetics, and great service.

Would I pay $500 a night for this hotel? Probably not...But if you can get a deal, it is well worth the experience. I would at least go to brunch at the restaurant.

Pros
-Great Location- Right on the beach
-Cozy restaurant with great outdoor/private patio
-Well laid out spacious rooms with fireplaces, balcony, and cozy bed overlooking ocean.
-Great Service
-Evening turn down service

Cons
Parking- You have to Valet your car for $29 a night. If you don't like valet, you can park on the street.
You can hear PCH from the room- So just spend most of your time on the balcony.

Tips
-Jettsetter.com offered a great rate for us.
-Let them know if you are visiting for an anniversary or birthday... they will put some additional nice touches on things.

This hotel is one of my all time favorites. It is located directly on the beach and you fall asleep every night to the sound of the waves. The hotel was completely renovated a few years ago and the renovation was very well done. The rooms are modern with nice finishes and views of the Queen's Necklace, the Malibu Pier and Carbon Beach. The hotel is walking distance to many restaurants as well as Cross Creek Plaza, the Lumber Yard Mall, and CVS Plaza. It is very close to Pepperdine and 20 minutes down PCH to Santa Monica. The hotel is intimate and has a great restaurant with a fire pit for lovely outside dining and cocktails. There is a great gym located directly across the street for fitness buffs. The rooms have great linens, flat screen t.v.s, travertine in the bathrooms, fireplaces and balconies with room for two. The staff if very friendly and helpful. I have stayed here over 30 times, and it never disappoints.

Room Tip: Opt for the Queen Oceanfront. You won't be disappointed.

My fiance and I spent the night at the MBI after getting engaged earlier that afternoon. I booked the mid-week winter dining package which included a sizable subsidy for the restaurant. The hotel was basically perfect for what we wanted: an intimate, quiet, high-end romantic experience where we could feel happily alone together. The hotel staff was extremely accommodating, and the service was excellent. (Excellent even in error: they screwed up on one of the add-ons I'd ordered for our room and as an apology sent up a complimentary bottle of Veuve Cliquot.) The room we had on the 3rd floor had a fantastic view, lovely little luxury touches throughout, a pleasant logde / rustic feel, and with the door open you could hear the ocean crashing all night long. The only negative was that the heater system was surprisingly loud (almost loud enough to drown out the ocean when we were in bed), so we ended up not running it much and using the fireplace instead. (The fireplace is a nice touch by the way.) The food at the restaurant was both really good and creative. The only negative I have about the hotel is that everything there is quite expensive, and that if we were staying more than one night I'd be frustrated with the pricing. But the package rate with the dinner stipend I thought was a fair value--the rack rates seem exorbitant though. In the summer I'd think the hotel would be wonderful and the outdoor restaurant / bar would be a pretty great place to pass a sunset or two. Generally highly recommended, especially if you aren't too price sensitive.

Very spacious and modern room, with gas fireplace and sitting area, loved the lighting and the extra touches: turndown w chocolates, quality robes, 3-4 kinds of fruits in lobby, coffee and breads in lobby in morning (great for folks who dont want a full breakfast). Walk right out to beach, can walk for miles (beach is public, but very few people in it). Did not try restaurant, supperb location right on the water.
