We stayed one night in this hotel after arriving on the west coast and heading to Yosemite Nat'l Park. We had driven just far enough when we arrived at the Mariposa Hotel Inn, got a good night's rest, and then were able to get an early start to the Park in the morning. Our room was comfortable, clean, and quiet, and the hotel, itself, is well-located. There is ample parking on the street, and despite the fact that the hotel is surrounded by 3 bars, we heard none of it once we went to bed. Strong wifi was a plus, friendly and gracious service was appreciated, and we thought we made a great decision staying here before our adventures in Yosemite.

I didn't want to stay here but one of us was from France; he promised to carry my bag up the long flight of stairs if i agreed to stay. So we stayed.
Rooms wildly over-decorated with plastic flowers, flags and much much more -- but the room was spotless, everything very comfortable.
Lovely bonus in the early evening: a great little balcony at the back of the building. We enjoyed a couple of bottles of California wine while watching the humming birds flit in & out of the many feeders.

We had a really nice couple of nights here when visiting Yosemite. It's in a historic building in an old gold rush town, with quirky rooms decorated with lots of historic items. It was extremely comfortable and the owners couldn't have been more friendly. A light breakfast was provided, which we had on the balcony at the back surrounded by hummingbirds! There's lots of parking at the back. The only thing to note is that the hotel is up at least one set of stairs (two from the back), which wasn't a problem for us but may be if you have mobility problems.

Mariposa is a really good base from which to reach Yosemite. It's the closest decent-sized town to the valley, so we could get back in the evenings and have a choice of restaurants and bars. Plus there's a supermarket for stocking up on stuff for the day. We'd particularly recommend Savoury's for dinner and The Alley for drinks - the latter has loads of craft beers on.

Yosemite Valley was less than an hour each way by car (we left around 8am and returned for 5), most of it through stunning scenery.

Stayed one night on a road trip. Wanted to find a place that has character, I was not after comfort. Well I did not get disappointed. This place is visually stunning. It is a bit of a mini museum of how Inn were back at gold rush time. The place smell like cinnamon and muffin. The owner is that lady you have seen in some movies with Gary Cooper when he checks in the Inn. Exactly what I wanted. Now if you are after comfort and quietness, then hit the road that is not the place for you. The place is humid, a bit noisy at night because of the bars surrounding it (great great bars, great town by the way, lots of shop and proximity things) and the breakfast is minimal. The patio / balcony is great , brought a couple of bottle of wine for before and fater the evening and we had an amazing time. I will definitely come back here if I am after the saem type of trip. For 2 nights or more I may have to go to something a bit more comfortable. I think I paid something like $140 for one night which was less thant the Best Western and exactly what I rodered. Very satisfied.

Room tip: rooms by the patio are noisier

Visited Mariposa, the gateway to Yosemite, for a weekend wedding shoot. After some research I decided to check into the Mariposa Hotel Inn. Love staying in old historic hotels with a story to tell. Not only do i like to photograph these places I also like to investigate them also. Armed with my camera, and my paranormal equipment, I had a very interesting night. The owners and the staff were friendly and informative. The room was very clean and comfortable. A diffident return is seen in the future. Thank You!

Room tip: The room next to the office was active for me.
