“Warm and Cozy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 November 2010

Last time we stayed in Lookout 1, this time THE SHED. It was warm and cozy. Even without the shower and a bigger bed it was very nice. You had to cuddle, but that's not a bad thing. We had rain, thunder, lightning, and hail, but that just added to the cozyness. You could look out the window or the door to the gardens and see the rain coming down. It was very relaxing there and the breakfast is the best in town. This was our second time in a B&B because we always went camping at Mendocino, but this has been a very nice treat. Jim, Ayla, and Sandy
are very kind hostesses. Looking forward to our next stay. My husband father was born and raised in Mendocino so we love coming back to his family roots. It's a great place to unwind!
Thanks, Janice and Dave Silvera

We stayed in the room, lookout #1. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The hostess [Ayla] was great about sharing information on what to see, do and where to eat and all of her information was great. My wife loved the breakfast delivered to our room.

We enjoyed our visit at the Sea Gull Inn. The owners, Jim and Ayla were the perfect host ~ giving us a brief rundown on the town and meeting our needs with courtesy and kindness. They even packed us a breakfast as we had to depart early in the morning. The breakfast was very good with fresh fruit, amazing muffins and perfectly brewed coffee. Our bed was comfortable and the neighborhood, quiet. I slept 10 hours one night during our visit, that is unusual for me. For the price and location, it's a treasure.

Each of the rooms in this hotel were different. We stayed in the Abalone room which was so pretty and cute! Pink flowery wallpaper, doilies on the dresser, oldy pictures of Mendocino around the room. Really nice. My only complaint would be that it was slightly small and very bright in the morning.
The real treat was the breakfast which was just fantastic. A pot of tea, fresh fruit, and a freshly baked cake, muffin or bread to accompany brought to your room. Yummy!
We went to the Mendicino Cafe for supper which was good food, but lacked any atmosphere. We also went to Patterson's Pub which was had a good atmosphere and a wide selection of micro brewed beers and killer nachos.

I suppose it all depends upon the weather. Unfortunately for us it was foggy. The Inn is OK and within walking distance to everything. If it was located in a typical town, they would only be able to charge a third of what they are charging. Our room was very small and had an OK continental breakfast delivered to our room. The best part was that the house sits on a quiet side street and is very accessible (walking distance) to everything in town. A previous review of Mendocino tried to compare it to Carmel. The waterfront may be as nice if not nicer, but the town is no Carmel.

Our family has vacationed at the Sea Gull Inn for over 30 years! We started vacationing in Mendocino yearly when our children were babies and we have always stayed at the Sea Gull Inn. The rooms are comfortable, very clean and reminiscent of simpler times; you can find much amenities in your room too. The breakfast is made by the owners and wonderful! They use organic and natural ingredients. I am gluten intolerant so the owner makes gluten free breakfasts for me. The gardens are peaceful and beautiful! lots of flowers and humming birds! The location, well what can we say, is in the heart of Mendocino and we can walk everywhere! which we love doing! In fact, we park our car and don't even see it until we leave!

We love the Sea Gull Inn! It is priced very well and the owners are excellent hosts too!

We are shooting for another 30 years at the Sea Gull Inn in the heart of Mendocino!!!
