Owner description: Located at the ocean's edge, the Monterey Bay Aquarium is a window to marine life -- for dive masters and non-swimmers alike. It's home to sea otters, penguins, sharks, jellies and thousands of other marine animals and plants. Its mission is to inspire conservation of the oceans.

We went on a weekday afternoon. We pre-purchased our tickets online. This allowed us to avoid the crowds at the ticket window... But it also should have been a warning. Most every tank had crowds 3-4 people deep making it impossible to see anything but what was swimming at the top. If you want to see anything up close you have to wait and worm your way up to the front. It is NOT an enjoyable experience after a while.

This is an excellent aquarium, but given that the exhibits are so difficult to see and the management has little appreciation for crowd control or limiting the flow of visitors, I cannot recommend a visit.

Kids love this place. I love this place. Large tanks where you see all the fish, jellyfish, anemonies, rays, skates, penguins and more. Kids get an education from the very knowledgeable docents and can actually touch starfish, crabs, kelp, rays, etc. Well worth the price.

Had a great time at the aquarium with my family. Although a little crowded it was still a great time. There is lots to see there.

My wife and kids and I went to the Aquarium at the end of march and had a blast. The employees are all friendly and very helpful and the attractions are magnificent. I will be sure to go there again next time we are in the area.

Nice facility, not as expansive as other aquariums. Good location and worth a visit if part of a vacation to the area--not as the main objective.
