Had a nice visit here after coming down from the Sierra mountains on the way to the West Coast. Wine was ok, not the best, but, reasonably priced.

Ironstone has a very interesting museum on site. The grounds are lovely. The tasting room has a nice little sandwich counter with things like chips and beverages in addition to wine tasting. There was an antique organ on display below the tasting room. This is definitely a good place to visit. Several times per year there are concerts on the grounds with well known entertainers.

This is a must-stop for visitors to Calaveras County. The grounds and buildings are beautiful, the small museum/gift shop is unique, and the wine tasting room is large and includes a lunch deli. There are outdoor tables to enjoy a meal. In the spring, there are spectacular tubs of bulbs all along the front of the main buildings. Therer are periodic art exhibits. The outdoor amphitheater is a top-notch place to see headline music attractions. Whether or not the wine is to your taste, the facilities and grounds are well worth the trip.

While my friend and I headed into the tasting room, our hubs were drawn into the "mining" museum, which this area of California is all about. They could not stop talking about it! I am really sorry I did not take the time for it. Apparently you can taste and purchase wine anywhere, but good museums are rare! Five months later when we took our grandchildren to see the museum it was closed. They open at 11:00! That is way too late for travelers just passing through your town . . . Missed it again!

Sylvia,

Glad you could make the trip to Ironstone Vineyards! Ironstone Vineyards has been proudly family owned and operated since 1989, with a focus on the beauty and history of California's gold country. We felt the best way to showcase this was through the curated selection of goods at our Heritage Museum & Jewelry Shoppe, which is open daily from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. (with the exception of a few holidays).

We hope you can return to tour our property and learn all about the Heritage Museum and the famed 44-pound crystalline gold piece that it houses. Feel free to contact me when you return, and I will happily arrange a complimentary tour & tasting.

Cheers,

Have come twice this summer to concerts at the Ironstone Amphitheater. The venue is very well run and surprisingly affordable for things like food/beer/wine. The larger places in big cities rip you off. These guys are fun, friendly and fair. The Amphitheater is very clean and they do a nice job. Tickets on line are easy to get and there are not many bad seats. Didn't actually visit the winery so I cannot comment there.

Glad you could join us for a show (or two) this season! We appreciate the kind words, as these shows are a huge undertaking for our team (special shout out to the team at Richter Entertainment Group for making this all possible). We are a community driven business at heart and do our best to keep these events affordable and inclusive for all!

Please return anytime you are in the area. If you enjoyed the wine selection available at the shows, that’s just a small portion of what we have to offer! You can always grab a bottle of wine, a bite from our Deli, and enjoy a picnic in our scenic (and shaded), Lakeside Park.

We look forward to hosting you again soon!
