Took my Mom for dinner for the first time. The server, a lovely woman, was very cordial and brought us both water ASAP after she dropped off the menus. We both ordered the fish 'n chips and their fried prawn appetizer. Honestly, I didn't bring my phone since we walked and I didn't think the food would be any good. What a pleasant surprise! The prawns were cooked just right; crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. They were very flavourful and would make a nice mean on their own. Our entrees came with a side salad [romaine, carrot, red cabbage, cucumber, and a juicy, "meaty" sliced tomato] and grilled veggies [zucchini, carrots, and long beans - delicious!] along with some tasty fries and four - FOUR! - sizable pieces of sole. It was enough for two meals - easy. Their are at least 13 TVs mounted along the walls playing various sporting events and the Food Network. Fortunately, the volume was kept low, so the place was not noisy at all. This is a great neighborhood place that we will most definitely come back to again. Next time, chicken wings!

Yes, there are plenty of wide-screen TVs here, but does the average sports bar serve escargot? Their dinner entrees (which come with salad and fresh hot bread, sauteed veggies and rice or potatoes) are several dollars cheaper from 5-7:30 pm, everything from pasta to rib eyes. The chicken marsala was incredibly tender and moist, the filet of sole was a large portion, panfried in lemon garlic butter, and the Grand Oaks rib eye was just as my friend wanted it, a perfect medium well. We all enjoyed our food immensely, and the service was as good as could be expected when there's one waitress. But because it's also a sports bar, if you want a relaxed atmosphere it's best to time your dining for an "off night" -- avoid Monday nights during football season, for example, or nights when the Warriors are playing. Besides the bar and dining room in front, there's also a back dining room and a room upstairs (I've never been, but apparently they open it when the crowd warrants it). There are regular tables and taller bistro-style tables, and room for large parties.

Expect to see people from all over Oakland in this bar (which is great!), all enjoying the sports on the dozens of TVs. Great drink prices and service, and typical bar food which is pretty ok, and surprisingly offers steaks, snails, and other options.

This place!!! We were looking last minute for a sports bar to watch the Euro 2016 soccer final Portugal vs France on a big screen and this was one of the closest locations so we went there. We both had a draft beer ($5 each) IPA and Pilsner and shared garlic fries while watching the game. It was great really, will be back to this place to try more of their food and watch sport games.
