“Typical airport hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2012

I rated it as high as I did because I have to compare it to other airport hotels. It was clean and had a nice outdoor/heated pool, which is rare. We enjoyed chilling at the pool for a few hours. We got placed here by United Airlines after our flight back to Denver was overbooked. It was a decent airport hotel. The lack of free wi-fi in the rooms and no free business center was a bit lame. Also, no free breakfast, but they did provide free OJ, Coffee, and yogurt in the morning, which was nice. Also, free airport shuttle. Once the BART extends to the Oakland Airport, you could actually use this hotel as an affordable option to lodging in San Fran. (by taking the free shuttle to the airport).

The Sports Bar on site had great fish and chips, some of the best that I've had. Decent crab cakes and wings too.

For the coporate price paid, I would much rather have stayed at the Homewood Suites about 4 miles away. However, the Homewood Suites did not have any rooms available at my coporate rate.

Even though the room was up to the Hilton property standards, I strongly object to paying parking fees on a per day basis for self parking. This is a little bit too much for a property of this caliber. I can understanding parking fees in places like New York or Chicago, but; Oakland???

The property was well kept, the front desk efficient at check-in & check-out and the food in the sport bar decent.

Unfortunately, I would recommend other hotels before recomending this property. Value for room and parking is difinitely not a good value.

This is a Hilton property VERY NEAR the Oakland Airport. It is great if you are using the airport for an early morning flight (beats trying to get there from San Fran early in the AM). The hotel is quite a complex (gated) and security is not a concern. The staff is great and a shuttle takes you to/from the airport very quickly. Don't expect much in the way of dining. They have a sports bar that is great for a quick meal but there isn't much in the neighborhood. It is close to the train to the city so you can stay here and compute if you need to get into downtown san fran.

The service was spotty. A few employees did not smile much. It felt like I had to engage the employee before they would say "hello." In the Sports Bar/Restaurant, Bernie is a treasure! Gina is great in the breakfast restaurant. They are role models for others. The Sports Bar has lots of Raider stuff as the hotel houses the Raiders before home games. However, why are five TV's turned to the same channel (ESPN) when there are NIT basketball games on ESPN2 and aren't on any of the TV's. Bar staff also need a lesson on expedited customer service. I waited several minutes before being asked if I wanted anything. This was after they had walked by several times. In particular, one bar staff person seemed to find other things to do besides waiting on customers. She would stand in the service area, walk back to the kitchen, come back from the kitchen, etc. She never left nor returned with anything in her hands nor did she go out and wait on tables for about an hour. Part of that was due to the 20 minute conversation with the security guard while others worked around her.

You have to pay for parking...REALLY? Why is that you get things free at Embassy Suites, Hilton Garden Inns, etc that you have to pay for at the high end Hilton? It's all about the profit centers at the Hiltons.

The hotel has been updated, the rooms are clean, beds, furniture and TV are great!

I will try another Hilton property in the future.

Room Tip: Ask for the top floor. My colleague was on the first floor and complained about the person on the 2...

The security of a 24hr watch guard gate is nice to have in oakland in case you have tools etc.. in your car. Free hot breakfast for god and platinums, parking was free and my room was dropped 50.00 for checking so late to get up for morning flight. They are there to work with you not against you. the hotel is split up into several building so parking generally ample. Quick in and out. almost across the street from the rental return and gas stations

This is an older hotel with a very intersting setup. Stayed at this location for a meeting and although the staff did a great job with the meeting, the hotel needs some updating, The room had been remodeled and was clean and modern but the layout of the entire facility is off-putting - you must go outside to get to different buildings and it was a cold and blustery day during my visit. Also need a car to navigate anywhere as there was nothing in the vicinity in terms of restaurants, shopping, etc.

If you want a motel 6 at a Hilton price ($185 a night) this is the place for you. The hotel is run down. Internet did not work. The restaurant service was terrible and people left without ever being served. The bathroom was so small two people could not be there at the same time. I felt like I was at a hotel from the 1980s.
