“Great Small Town Hospitality”

My son and I stayed at the Rustic Motel using it as base for Mount Whitney hiking. The Inn keeper Judy was really helpful. I found the place simple, clean and quite. Coffee was on in the AM in the front office. Had good time, the Inn keeper had a small fire pit out in front in the common area, we sat out on benches, had a camp fire and roasted marshmallows. Great place and half of what Lone Pine was asking. We also due to our location went Ghost-towning and hiking at Fossil falls. Judy had good information on local restaurants and local sites.

Room Tip: ask for rooms on the end away from the well if you are light sleeper like me

Reciently my daughter and I had the opportunity to say at a wonderfully quaint little Motel called the Rustic Oasis. It was truly not only a beautiful place but the hospitality was one of a kind also. We were spellbound by the beauty of the land that surrounded us. Upon checking into what appeared to be a lonley motel off highway 395 we found a jewel of a motel manager and very clean rooms. Not only was she very accomidating but she offered us something to eat as well. We unpacked our belongings into a 2 bed room. It was very clean smelling with what could only be described as " right out of grandmas house" decor. So inviting that we postponed or departure date by another night. This motel manager also came by to make sure we were comfortable and asked if we needed anything else. She then invited us to a bonfire outside that night at one of the motels fire pits. Before long cars were pulling in, checking in and joining us. People from every where. A lovley couple from hungary and there two boys, an older couple from germany, someone from Los Angeles and more. It was fun learning about these people. Would I stay there again.....Already making plans to.

Room Tip: If you have someone that snores ask the manager for one of her cute 2 bed bedrooms with the sliding...

We stayed here while touring California on a Harley and after 2 nights in Las Vegas the Rustic Oasis Hotel was a welcome retreat. Ok - the room was a little dated, but was clean, had a large comfy bed, and great shower. Judy the manager was very friendly and helpful, directing us to a great little Mexican cafe near the petrol station and got up early with us the following morning to provide us with coffee and tea (because we are English!) and a delicious pineapple upside down cake. As for the previous review about "bugs and critters" etc as they say out here - "cowboy up"!! How often do you get a chance to sit on the porch, outside your room, underneath the stars surrounded by mountains and desert, perfectly peaceful? If you want the sterile boxes of a chain motel, this might not be for you, but if you want to interact and experience your surroundings, it definately is.

This was a last minute choice as all hotels in Lone Pine were filled! But is was a great find. Charming, rustic, but clean and the hostess was very friendly and interested in making my stay comfortable. The setting is right up against the eastern southern Sierras, and it was a dark and stormy night when I was there in July. It was very cozy. Rooms are small, but servicable and the price was right!
All in all, a good night's sleep.

Room Tip: Only 8 rooms! No. 1 was the most newly renovated.

We stayed at the Rustic motel on our way to Los Angeles, after spending two previous nights in Las Vegas. We were really in need of sleep, peace and quiet, and that's exactly what we got.

The room was pretty basic and worn, but still clean. But that wasn't really the point of staying here.

The motel had a big yard with bunnies running around. The sunset looked amazing against the backdrop of the mountains. And at night, it got pitch black and silent - no city buzz within hundreds of miles. Here we slept better than anywhere else on our trip.

The couple running the motel was very friendly and helpful. When we told them that we wanted to sleep well that night, they made sure no one stayed in the rooms on either side of ours. The next morning, they spent a lot of time giving us tips for the rest of our trip.

My brother, nephew, my son and I decided to go backpacking out of Lone Pine about 25 minutes away from this motel. After a long day of hiking we were all very tired and decided to try and find a motel for the night. Every motel in Lone Pine was full, except for two very expensive ones. We then decided to try a place on the way home, called the Rustic Oasis. We could get some sleep, and safely drive home in the morning. I read Google and Yelp reviews and it sounded fine for what we wanted, a quick place to sleep. What a mistake!

First, always look at the room before you pay. It was only $65, but what a waste of money. Second, I asked the Lady who was in charge if my credit card was kept on file, she said no. Then she said if anything gets stolen or broken, she has our address, and she would hunt us down and shoot us. It was only a joke, but kind of odd anyways. Then we went and opened our room.

Below were some observations and experiences:
It was a two bedroom room.
The closet was a free standing wooden cabinet.
The shower was a small closet with a shower curtain.
The toilet seat was missing a support.
Both beds could barely support weight without crushing.
The light in the bedroom didn't work.
The ceiling was in terrible shape with stains and patched spots.
The room had no air conditioning, only a swamp cooler.
The swamp cooler control was a switch, and was outside the room.
The one switch also controlled the entire motel.
The swamp cooler worked good, but smelled funny.
The room was streaming with bugs.
Spiders, moths, ants, fleas, roach type bugs were everywhere. I should have thought twice when the manager said they don't recommend that kids sleep on the floor.
The manager did ask if we wanted coffee in the morning.
There was a small fridge in the room.
There was a tv.
The bed sheets appeared clean.
Security wise, we felt safe.
There were signs of black mold on the ceiling.
No bottled water or other amenities.

Conclusion, if bugs, critters and ruff conditions don't bother you, this is the place for you. For us though, we arrived at 11pm and at 2:30am we rushed out after a spider dropped out of a hole in the ceiling onto my son. It was the straw the broke the camel's back. I won't be caught here again.

I stayed there last night and the room was simple, clean and quiet. The lady at the reception was very nice and helpful. Liked it :) If you are a spoiled brat, this is not for you! Down to earth people will like it.
