I stayed here for a week with my 'better' half in late January 2012/ early February and searched through various properties available in Palm Springs before taking the plunge and booking this resort. This certainly had some of the best reviews and seemed to match exactly the right mood and type of holiday I was after. It actually exceeded my expectations and we both loved the place! The hosts (Jim and Maurice) are welcoming - as are all the staff you will meet - Steve, Tom & the rest of the team! They are all so warm and friendly - nothing is too much trouble - very helpful - and are 'there' if you need them - but discreet and 'invisible' if you don't! There are only 10 suites - so with the two pools & spa bath, very comfortable sunbeds in beautiful and well maintained gardens - you could 'opt' to be sociable with other guests - or simply relax in your own 'away from it all' world! We actually had one of the swimming pools to ourselves on several occassions - fab! Saying that - it was good to chat to our fellow guests over lunch or simply to find out what they had been up to during the day. A very relaxing resort in a fantatsic location in Palm Springs - less than an hour's drive to the Joshua Tree National Park - well worth a visit. The Aerial Tramway is less than 20 minutes away - another fab day out giving you fantatsic views over the surrounding area. Oh..and the night life - leave the car behind as all the pubs (including the gay bars) and restaurants are literally within a 15minute walk! Although most californians think you are mad to walk - you really can leave the car behind and head to S.Palm Canyon Drive - where you'll find most of the restaurants and shopping area, E.Arenas road is where you'll find the main 'gay' hub of pubs - although there are one or two scattered elsewhere. We felt no need to drive at night to go to any of these places - the Hacienda is in a really great location. From the welcome on arrival, the relaxed breakfasts, the bonus of lunch when lazing by the pool - or coming back to the resport and finding lunch waiting for you in the fridge (!) if you've been out exploring for the day, combined with the level of service provided and quality of the room (We stayed in the smallest 'Patio Room - which was private, secluded and perfect for a relaxing 'get away') this resort hit the spot! Full marks all round! Have no hesitation in recommending this place to others. I am always weary of chosing resorts based on web sites only (especially when it comes to 'gay' accommodation) - but if you are looking for a more refined, upmarket get away from it all relaxing 'home from home' - book now! I know you will not be disappointed - this is the first place I have stayed where I actually wanted to write a review for Tripadvisor and sing the merits of my stay - as I don't have a single negative comment to make about the Hacienda! Ian.

We stayed here for three days over my partner's birthday weekend. To say this is a luxury property is an understatement. It is the ultimate in luxury for the gay man. The hotel consists of 10 suites, 2 pools and a hot tub. Breakfast is delightful each morning and lunch is spectacular--delivered to your room or to the pool, wherever you are at the time. There was so much food that one day we did not go to dinner--just had leftovers. We were pampered so much that we hated to leave. The suites are luxurious, large and fully equipped. The owners have thought everything through so that one need not think, search or have any concerns. We even appreciated the hangers in the closet--not fixed to the bar so that the clothing could be removed easily. Our suite had a fireplace, a two man shower, full kitchen, 2 TV's and the most comfortable bed I could imagine. 900 square feet of total luxury.
If you wish to stay in a special place for a special celebration, this is the place.

Room Tip: Every suite is wonderful (we visited them all). The Grand Deluxe Suite had the fireplace. Every suite/room is quiet and all except the patio room face the pools. The fireplace is great during the winter but probably not necessary during the summer.

What a great experience I had visiting your resort over the Christmas holiday! Great staff who are so friendly and take special care of you during your stay. Very clean facility with everything you need. Thanks to Steve and everyone who made it special.

Thanks for the great weather too!
See you next time.

A friend from Phoenix!

A great place to stay. The hosts and staff are primo and really friendly and professional.
My only obeservation for improvement would be if there are two staying in a room to have two apples instead of one in the welcome basket and have coffe capsules replenished daily for early risers that plan to head out before breakfast if they have plans to hike, bike etc.

The room was comfortable and, clean and great bed and pilllows. Our shower tiles however were falling off and the sink's wood finish was all peeling. Things should be kept up better in those respects when paying top dollar for a $300. a night room. The hot water pipes should be insulated and not to have to run water for several minutes, Knowing how precious water is in Palm Springs, La Hacienda states on their laundry card about towel reuse to conserve natures water and we did, However, not insulating your pipes would be not be a testamonial of your support on sustainability.

The bottle of champagne was very thoughtful and a nice touch. We enoyed it on New Year's Day day by the pool.

We will return and hope room #4 is in shape shape.. Thank you for our wonderful stay.

Easily the best of the gay and clothing optional resorts...extra-clean, well-managed, and absolute zero "creep factor". The rooms are spotless (housekeeping service daily/as requested) and beautifully decorated. The pools and grounds are immaculate right down to the smallest detail. The staff are friendly and truly go out of their way to ensure that your stay is a pleasant one.

There's really no reason to book anywhere else - we stayed for just four nights and REALLY hated leaving.

Will definitely return.
