I wanted to really like this place. Dark, dungeony, basement like, the DJ spun some good soul, RnB, lounge house, but the drinks and appetizers killed it bad. The raw? Drinks sucked royally. Either the recipes are whack or the bartenders need to return to school. Chips (not complimentary), tacos (one bite wonders with hardly any filling), salsa and ceviche (in tiny tins the size of hot sauce you'd get from a hole in the wall 24hr Mexican food restaurant) were only tolerable.
Maybe... just maybe, on a different night with different bartenders and only drinking bottled beer it would be better. But that kinda defeats the purpose of the place having a happy hour with food and their own mixed drink recipes.

I could probably write 1000 words on how amazing this place is. The rooms are gorgeous, the grounds are gorgeous, and we had an amazing time.

Some highlights:
Free cruiser bike rentals
Pool side drink service, and the drinks are GREAT
Pool open until 2am
Beautiful rooms, with enviable decor and robes (you know it's good, when you like the robes)
Great staff
Resto is so-so, but whatever, we ate other places and just snacked at their restaurant
Guests are easy going, and we ended up making all kinds of friends.

I can't wait to go back!

Let me start by saying that I've stayed at the Ace about 3 other times. The cool, young, unpretentious hipster crowd is the appeal, but this time around was a big disappointment.

Pros:
1. Comfy bed
2. Restaurant food is good
3. The smaller pool offers some quiet

Cons:
1. Room was not ready at 3pm check-in.
2. I reserved a fireplace patio room and was given a regular room so we had to lug our luggage around to a second room.
3. There was a bug (cockroach?) in our bed. Eww....
4. We were awakened at about 8:30am with construction repairs taking place in the room next door.
5. We were visited twice by housekeeping despite having a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door.
6. The large pool area was very crowded on a Sunday.
7. Generally over-priced rooms for such a casual place.
8. Tiny bathroom.

Overall, a bad experience. Not going back.

Thank your for your review, it really helps us out! I'm looking into the issues you experienced - we are always glad to move luggage for our guests, so I'm not sure why you had to move it yourselves. If possible please contact me so I can look into your charges; if you were placed next to the construction that happened that week, then you should have been compensated for it. Thank you again for pointing out the issues with housekeeping (knocking even though you had a sign) so I can address them. It's horrible that you left with such an impression, I hope we can have you back some weekend that isn't as busy so you can really enjoy your stay.

Thank you,
Jason

My friend and I stayed here to meet up with a group of friends, but I wouldn't have picked this place otherwise. They have marketed this place well to appeal to an artsy, young, alternative crowd but they charge way too much for a gimmick. The rooms look like a summer camp cabin accessorized with beat up, rusty objects, and then a super modern sink. The room is dark and pretty small and the bathroom was tiny. The patio was really great, if it wasn't 113F outside. The bed is pretty comfortable. One pool has a million chairs with way too many people and loud music. The relaxed pool has maybe 2 chairs and one umbrella, not great in the desert heat. It's a giant hipster frat party, way overpriced and not even walking distance to the main drag.

We stayed one night here on a trip from Yosemite national forest to Phoenix. This hotel was a great counterpoint to a summer camping trip. The rooms are interesting without being precious; we didn't have to worry that our 4-year old was going to ruin something. This place has a casual "beach house" vibe that is welcoming. The open-late and warm pool was a treat to camping-weary bones. We ate two meals at the on-site diner, for the sake of laziness...the food is good, if not a bit expensive. The mac and cheese was killer amazing, yummmm. Their breakfast was unremarkable, but so very convenient. We stayed here on a summer special, if you are considering this hotel, visit the official palm springs website or check the "specials" page of the ACE website for offers...we saved quite a bit to make this hotel very worthwhile. The hotel was swarmed, and I mean swarmed, by the specimen that is known as the "hipster;" but we are not so offended by this. If you are, don't come. This is certainly a "party" hotel, but we were able to get a good night's rest. It wasn't prohibitively loud during our stay, despite a DJ at the hotel bar. Note they do not allow outside alcohol at all. The rooms do not have coffee makers, and buying coffee at the cafe to-go is rather expensive. They have an on-site mini dog park, and they allow pets. Good hotel experience, I'd stay here again.

Room Tip: If you can get a first floor room they have great patios. We had a second floor room, no patio.

We made the mistake of visiting over Memorial Day Weekend. The weekend days were totally loud - the walls are thin, and our neighbors partied all night long. I kept calling the hotel to get them to quiet down, but it didn't do much good. Unfortunately, every tiny move they made was amplified by the concrete floors. Also, the party pool vibe is very drunk and loud and annoying.
However, when the party crew moved on, it was heaven! Typical rad Ace decor, great service, great local, sustainable food, overall totally gracious and stunning. Extra comfy bed with mountains of pillows, good gym, great Rudy's Barbershop unisex toiletries! We had a room with a courtyard and a fireplace, which couldn't have been a more mellow place to hang out. We wanted to order in-room-grill-your-own-tacos, but ran out of time.

Room Tip: Avoid the party/holiday weekends to best enjoy this hotel, unless you're 21, from the OC and liv...

This is a great party hotel, but if you're worried about noise, ask for a room away from the main "party" pool. We stayed in the 400 building that is next to the "quiet" pool. The area has a nice grassy spot to lay out or have a little picnic. Our room was a patio room that had ample room for guests to enjoy the space with you. My only complaint is the main door to the rooms slam with a vengeance and there are no black out curtains for sunlight. While at the pool, there is wait staff that will take orders for drinks and food while you lounge on a floaty...HEAVEN! We went the the Kings Highway restaurant for an awesome breakfast. I had the Breakfast ALT sandwich that was amazing!
