Two small pastries, a single small bottle of OJ, and a single bottle of water greeted us when we entered the room. That was to be our breakfast and it was a metaphor for the rest of the experience. Carpet was mostly clean, the bathroom was clean but chipped and scratched. The desk clerk’s English was only lightly accented, but her limited American vocabulary suggested that she had emigrated from India fairly recently. Some explainations were necessary. Once again, you get what you pay for.

Room Tip: Very thin walls. Plan to go out to breakfast.

The room was clean and the area was very nice. I was able to walk to a cafe about 2 blocks away and get a bite. Very much a Motel room but a good buy in a very expensive location. If you had a car you would be very happy to have it right outside your room. The staff was efficient. They stored my bags for the afternoon which I really appreciated. The bathroom had a bathtub with is nice. Coffee maker, hairdryer, fridge and microware. Nice touches. Big TV. Good big bed. I would stay here again. The VA Hospital is a quick Taxi ride away.

Room Tip: I stayed in 121 which was a few rooms from the street about mid way in the complex. I was quiet.

Nothing fancy but a more than adequate and clean place to have a place to sleep. They even throw in sweet rolls and coffee and tea for breakfast. It is surrounded by plenty of fine places to eat. The price was right and the location great.

This is not an evaluation of a stay or the rooms; this is a negative review for the staff and their way of dealing with customers.
I recommend everybody NOT to book this accommodation online; this motel is not able to handle bookings from online portals.

We made a reservation through an online platform for our planned overnight stay in Palo Alto, at the Sky Ranch (Americas Best Value Inn).
This reservation have been confirmed, there was no previous cancellation and they did not try to contact us in any way.

Upon arrival, the receptionist searched perplexed through some sheet until he told us he had no room for us, and we should look for another motel.

After some time the "manager" came, who didn't felt guilty about this situation, and just wanted to get rid of us.
About the argument that we have a binding reservation and that he has to provide us with an equivalent room, he only searched us a room, which was more expensive by more than the half.
When we told him again that we would not pay more, he said to us "Then you have no place to sleep" and told us to go.

When we left, he stated my credit card as invalid at the online platform and tried to cancel my reservation. Luckily I already sent an email to the platform before they made their voluntary misstatement.

This was not an isolated case, there were many other customers, which have suffered from the same situation.

American Best Value Inn (Sky Ranch) is an affordable option in expensive Palo Alto. However, this is a typical case of you get what you pay for. For the average budget traveler looking for an affordable and clean lodging with accountable customer service they will only find one of the three.

True to the name this is a best value for the area and location. The rooms are clean enough, but not actually clean with a décor and upkeep that reveals where the location is saving money. A continental breakfast of orange juice, bottled water, and prepackaged pastries already in the room was appreciated. However, they were not replenished everyday. We overlooked the check-in staff sleeping at the front desk until he attempted to charge us 4 nights instead of the originally reserved 3 nights.

This is not a repeat. Our next visit to the area, we paid a higher rate for a clean room with honest staff.
