We used to go to Darbar quite often few years back and just went as a pilgrimage. The quality is still there. Definitely recommanded if in the Palo Alto / Stanford neighborhood.

Had the Tikka Masalla and Butter Chicken as well as some other entrees and everything was excellent. Food was hot and did not wait long to get food . Garlic Naan was awesome and price was mid range. Definitely worth a visit.

I had the lunch buffet a couple days ago and I tried rice with raita along with paneer and the rice pudding. The dishes I tried were good and it is an authentic indian restaurant. They should try to serve some form of paneer dish every day along dal makhani as standard, if they want to make their vegetarian menu a delight every single day for the vegetarian food lover like myself. Their naan bread was also good and I thought their gulab jamun was not good, especially since it should be served hot but it was cold. The owner explained that most f the customers are americans who prefer it cold but for indians, they are always willing to warm it up, which they did for me. Their appetizers like alu pakora was also good and felt just like they had prepared at home by my mom and that is always a very good thing.

Overall a good place to eat and hang out and owners are friendly along with the friendly staff and food cost is like usd 13 with taxes. Definitely worth trying especially if they have paneer in the vegetarian section, and maybe some good dal makhani;

Decent quality lunch buffet. Despite all the dishes having a distinct lack of depth of flavor and definitely missing any spice, the dishes are clean and have good ingredients.

for Palo Alto it's a good, cheap option.
