“Worth visiting for food and basic items”

Town & Country Village
Ranked #15 of 41 things to do in Palo Alto
Attraction details
Reviewed November 27, 2015

This retail 'village' is right on El Camino near to the Stanford Campus (opposite the Stadium). So it accessibly easily by bus as well as by car. It has outlets for most basic needs including a pharmacy and a Trader Joes store. You will find a great bakery and a range of restaurants plus a fair assortment of clothing and gift establishments. The Village is pretty 'upmarket' with prices reflecting this so not a place to go for market bargains, but it is a very pleasant destination for a coffee or lunch when you have time to browse and do a bit of basic shopping at the same time.

OK I am biased - there is a bakery that sells delicious and authentic sourdough which gives this small mall an extra point. There are great sandwiches here and a Trader Joes.
Decent place but not a destination.

This shopping center is packed with great restaurants, good coffee places, a yummy cupcake store, Trader Joes for necessities and a Sur La Table for gifts. I stop by every time I'm in Palo Alto.

Great place to spend a few hours
Pros:
1. Classic location - Off El Camino Real and Embarcadero Dr.
2. Opposite Stanford Stadium
3. A wide variety of Retail outlets and some for the tummy too
4. Found an "Indian" cuisine restaurant, Tava, but then the food was not too Indian.. good enough I guess
Cons:
1. Retail outlets pricing is pretty high, not exactly suitable for a budget traveller, more local than global in nature

Town and Country has been in the Palo Alto area for years. It is very close to the Stanford University campus as well as Palo Alto High School. I like it that it has a Trader Joe's there. There is also many cafes and places for dessert. Some of my favorite places include Deuce France for breakfast or sandwiches for lunch and French pastries.

For hamburgers Gotts or Kirks is great. Peets Coffee is there. For sandwiches there is the Village Cheese Shop. There is Mayfield Bakery and others.

For dessert Kara's Cupcakes, Coldstone Creamery, and more.

There is a Labelle Day Spa, as well as other shops such as apparel shops, book store, drug store, and more.

It is a popular place to go as parking is often congested and it might take some time to find a place to park especially at lunch time.

Thank mini
