Absolutely loved this wonderfully preserved mid-century hotel. No frills, just nostalgia. There are so many cool details including a brown bag style continental breakfast, a swimming pool that is more than 6ft deep, and even old school keys. It's in a nice location across the street from Pasadena City College and down the street from Old Town Pasadena. Highly recommend.
The lady at the front desk was racist towards black people. She approach us very aggressively and asked what we were doing there, although we had already checked in and went to lunch and was walking back to our room. I stated we were going to our room and she should check her records. I went down to the front desk to say I was offended by her. She stated we could not have more than 4 people in the room. I told her the others were not staying just visiting. She said the could visit outside not in the room due to fire hazard. I have never heard of such a thing and I have travel to many places in the last 30 years. I told her this was racial profiling and I took this whole ordeal as such. She called the room and told us we could leave and a refund would be issued. I went back to the front desk and got the refund issued and asked for a print out, which she he hummed about but I was not leaving unless I got a print. Which I finally received. We packed up and left and I stated I was giving the placed a terrible review
Super Retro hotel with lovey palms surrounding the pool. Ask for room 217, 219 or 215 so you can view the palms through the hurricane blinds.decor hasn’t been updated If that’s what you’re looking for but the Continental breakfast is vast including Krispy Kreme‘s! Good coffee
The saga motel hotel is a true gem. From start to finish, we had a wonderful stay. It’s impeccably clean, a great location, it has an amazing pool, we were room 123, it was right outside the door! (Behind a safety gate) The motel had wonderful range of people staying there. For the price, this original motor hotel is incredible value and makes a trip to Pasadena somewhat affordable. We have two young children and it worked well. Two double beds, a good sized bath. I would highly recommend and we will be back. I booked with the motel direct on their website and it was a simple and stress free.
In the area for business and charmed by this “motor hotel” on Route 66! It’s very clean, and has maintained its original mid century modern aesthetic. The palm trees around the pool and central courtyard look original to the initial building of the motel. Such a nice place to come back to, with a couple of nice walkable meal options nearby. We will be back!
