Not for us

The hotel is well situated on East Colorado Blvd. near restaurants, shops and other Pasadena attractions. I also like that this 1926 building has preserved some of its original charm, particularly in the lobby area.

An extensive remodel of the hotel took place within the last several years — “modernizing” the guest rooms. We booked a 7th floor king sized bedroom with a pool view, at some considerable cost. (About $900.00 all in for two nights) The room was very tiny in size. The open area bathroom (no separate room from the rest of the bedroom) had an “artistically” partially frosted glass door to the toilet and shower. The toilet was about 6 feet from the head of the bed, and every intestinal distress could be clearly heard.

I believe the water was softened which is nice when you’re taking a shower, but is probably not healthy to drink, which I did, because there were no bottles of water in the room at all — even for purchase. There were two single use plastic cups provided — not glass, which reeked of cheapness to me.

Parking was an additional per day charge. The front desk man was curt and not welcoming at all. The baristas at the downstairs breakfast bar were all very pleasant however.

All in all, I felt that this hotel is not worth the top dollar it charges. I would not book here again.

Nice environment.Easy to walk to cal tech campus and post office and cafeteria. But dirty bed sheet with poop like stains we found till next morning totally ruined the stay. I believe no one expects to see that kind of bed sheet that you actually slept on for a night. The front desk told me to contact manager. I left my phone number and I called twice to the manager's number that the front desk gave to me. I haven't gotten anything back yet. Very upset!

Hotel owes me a refund for a broken AC the entire length of my stay. Manager Courtney is non-responsive to emails. Have sent 6 emails asking for feedback over past month, left a voicemail and nothing is being responded to. Front desk keeps telling me my complaints were documented in their system and it’s noted they owe me a refund. I took a picture of the notes. Every day of my stay they told me someone would look into fixing the system and no one did. ‘Slept’ (meaning barely slept) in a room over 81 degrees each night. Couldn’t move rooms bc hotel was fully booked. Pursuing other routes to get the documented return I was promised by the Manager. Do not recommend this hotel between broken AC and the lack of integrity/ethics.

After a long tour of California, we stayed here before I flew back to England from LAX and my girlfriend went on to San Diego. A lovely hotel - very reasonable price, very nice room indeed, and lovely pool where Ashley provided fab service..."Highly Recommend", as they say!

A really nice place in a very nice location :)

Room tip: Great place to stay...no reservations (regarding our recommendation - probably need to make a reservation to stay there though!)

This hotel has pros and cons. It’s pretty bare bones ie no room service, in-room coffee maker or even bottled water. Fortunately it’s very well located amd there’s a great coffee shop and a Rite Aid about 600 feet away. Super bed, plenty of towels. Lobby and pool area are very pleasant. The lobby is comfortable and nicely decorated in stark contrast to the bizarre decor of the hallways and guest rooms. (Think The Jetson’s meet Stanley Kubrick. ). All staff are pleasant and aim to please. I’d stay again for the great location, the pool and the value.

This is a really cute old timey vibe hotel. Gorgeous outdoor spaces. I loved the jet tub in my room. That was probably the only thing I loved in my room. Some people just use a hotel as a landing pad, not me. I go every few months to hotel to recharge because I’m a stay at home mom to 3 little kids. I want to go into my room and never leave. This wasn’t the hotel for that. Bed was too stiff for me, too much light poured in in the morning, tv was just basic cable, no kettle in room or microwave. Like I said, just depends what you are into. This is within walking distance to everything. So convenient. I can see a lot of people loving this place.
